The Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) function has an important role to play in helping to achieve EY’s ambition to create long-term value as the world’s most trusted, distinctive professional services organization. Through the collective power of BMC, and the other teams and specialists we work with, we aim to build a better working world by driving commercial value through distinctive marketing and communications that deliver measurable market impact.

BMC is led globally by Karen Hopkins. The function comprises over 2,000 professionals, working across the Global Executive and Regions in: Brand; Marketing; PR/Media Relations & External Communications; Internal Communications & Employee Engagement; Corporate Communications.

BMC also includes a number of teams who are responsible for digital channels, content development, editorial, webcasts, events-staging, strategy, planning and operations.

 

The opportunity  

As part of the drive to strengthen cross-border collaboration and better serve EY clients, EY is bringing together three existing regions to form a new, enlarged Europe West Region.  

We are seeking an experienced, high energy self-starter with the experience and attitude to take on challenges, drive ideas through and proactively deliver results.  You will lead the transformational change required to integrate existing Europe West country teams into one team that spans the Region, and manage a team that focuses on Change Management, Marketing Innovation and Technology, Operations, Data & Analytics, Global Delivery Services (GDS) and Webcast Productions. The role will report to the Regional Brand, Marketing and Communications Leader for Europe West.

You will play an important part in improving BMC operational performance and agility, driving key change and transformation initiatives.  A mastery of change, business agility and operational excellence are therefore core parts of this role.

To help us achieve our ambitions in EMEIA, we are also transforming our BMC function in the new Europe West region.  This includes strengthening the skills and capabilities of our teams to deliver best in class digital marketing and support a broader product and service offering in line with EY ambitions to be a leader in technology-enabled transformation. Another important element of the transformation is to increase alignment and realize synergies across global, area and regional teams. You will have a key role to play in embedding this change within the region.

You will work across BMC Europe West, helping to lead internal projects and initiatives to assist strategic imperatives, identify opportunities for improvement and best practices.  The role will advise on strategic organizational topics, help translate strategic vision into action, increase efficiency and effectiveness and strengthen process understanding and discipline across the function.  You will be a key member of the Europe West BMC leadership team and provide project management, budgeting support, agenda setting, capturing and following up on key actions and helping with the enablement and deployment of key priority initiatives.

 

Major responsibilities/duties

This role is a unique opportunity to drive change and influence the design of BMC activities within one of EY’s most important regions leveraging your expertise in a multicultural and inclusive environment.

As EW BMC Transformation & Operations Director you’re accountable for:

  • Leading BMC’s Transformation program, providing input and insight into how BMC continues to evolve to be more impactful and leading the overall program management of workstreams, initiatives and measurement. 
  • Leading and enabling the BMC Europe West operations team to develop, implement and deliver key operational processes and activities for BMC Europe West.
  • Leveraging and helping to deploy the latest innovations, technologies and best practices in marketing and communications and supporting change management where needed.
  • Providing leadership in developing agile methods for supporting innovation, new ways of working and aligning across BMC Europe West teams.
  • Championing and driving digital enablement across Europe West BMC in collaboration with technology SMEs and strategic vendors. Drive both operational effectiveness and lean efficiencies with the use of technology.
  • Defining and building efficient cross-functional team collaboration environments with non-BMC support functions such as Finance, Procurement, Technology, and Talent.
  • Implementing robust measurement and reporting to track performance of the Europe West BMC function including client, people, financial and social value.
  • Leading Europe West BMC’s program impact reporting, capturing data and analytics, and driving a culture of program impact measurement.

 

Skills and attributes for success:

We’re looking for a senior transformation & operations leader

  • Strong understanding of marketing/communication operations, and the various dimensions of different operating models (operational strategy, governance, process, technology, organizational design, performance)
  • Strategic thinking and agile mindset coupled with the ability to drive organizational performance, lead change and measure results in term of added value to the business
  • Excellent communication, networking skills and business and commercial acumen to navigate and team in a highly matrixed organization requiring complex stakeholder management in order to resolve issues and support the delivery of exceptional service
  • Problem solving and conceptual thinking; the ability to synthesize complex information, anticipate obstacles and respond accordingly
  • Leadership skills including the ability to proactively coach and develop high performing teams

 

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience including brand, marketing and communications and operations in B2B environment, ideally in either professional services, financial services or technology sectors
  • Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Experience of working effectively in a cross-cultural environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences, including with virtual high-performing teams
  • Delivered effective change and transformation programs, working with the change management function to deliver major business transformations
  • Experience in delivering exceptional results in a multinational firm with complex matrix structures and global reporting relationships, balancing local market needs with global strategy
  • Excellent financial management skills, including financial planning and budgeting
  • Excellent process efficiency and effectiveness skills
  • Ability to provide insights & impact based on data and understanding of data analytics
  • Master’s degree or equivalent area of study
  • Fluency in English and ideally one or more of the languages represented in Europe West
