The opportunity

 

Identity and Access Management (IAM) organization, a part of Information Security which, enables over 400,000 individuals across 140+ countries to access systems and information securely. As a member of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team this position will contribute towards execution of an IAM roadmap that meets security requirements, including but not limited to security for, a complex Active Directory (AD) environment, hybrid cloud deployment, mobile computing, policy driven security, SSO, identity lifecycle management, and federation focusing on multiple protocols.

Your key responsibilities

 

The IAM Identity Management User Acceptance Tester partners closely across the Identity Management portfolio to test Enterprise Solutions prior to release to Production.  We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced User Acceptance Tester (UAT) to ensure that our software products meet the requirements and function as expected from an end-user perspective. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in functional testing, exploratory testing, planning and executing tests, documenting issues, and collaborating with engineers and business stakeholders to resolve any problems. This role requires a deep understanding of Quality Assurance processes and best practices, security testing tools and methodologies, as well as analytical, technical and communication skills to ensure high quality deliverables aligned with business expectations.

 

  • Planning and Preparation:
    • Understanding business requirements: Review business requirements and functional specifications to understand expected software functionalities and capabilities as well as scope of testing.
    • Defining Acceptance Criteria: Work with business analysts and business stakeholders to establish clear and measurable acceptance criteria for successful software functionality.
    • Developing Test Plans: Create comprehensive test plans that outline the scope, objectives, and approach for UAT.
    • Creating Test Cases: Design detailed test cases that reflect real-world user scenarios and cover various functionalities.
    • Setting up the Testing Environment: Ensure the testing environment mirrors the production environment with realistic data.

 

  • Test Execution and Documentation:
    • Executing Test Cases: Run defined test cases and document test results, including any issues or deviations from expected behaviour or defined acceptance criteria.
    • Exploratory Testing: Simultaneously learn application functionality, design additional test scenarios, and execute tests in real time to uncover unexpected issues and insights. Apply domain knowledge and intuition to identify gaps missed by scripted testing, ultimately contributing to improved software quality.
    • Reporting Defects: Clearly document and report any bugs or issues encountered during testing, including preconditions, steps to reproduce, severity, and priority.
    • Tracking and Managing Defects: Work with developers on defect resolution and ensure that fixes are retested.

 

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Working with Business Analysts: Work closely with business analysts from the initial stages of the effort to ensure acceptance criteria are aligned with business requirements.
    • Collaborating with Engineers and Developers: Work closely with engineers and developers to communicate issues, clarify requirements, and ensure that defects are addressed effectively.
    • Communicating with Business Stakeholders: Work with end users and business stakeholders to ensure test results validation throughout the UAT execution.
    • Communicating with Project Stakeholders: Keep project stakeholders informed about the progress of UAT, including test results and any critical issues.
    • Providing Feedback and Recommendations: Offer insights and recommendations to improve the software and the overall UAT process.

 

  • Ensuring Quality and Readiness:
    • Verifying Fixes: Retest resolved issues to confirm that they have been fixed and do not introduce new problems.
    • Validating Acceptance Criteria: Ensure agreed acceptance criteria are met, and functionalities are aligned with requirements.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes, user requirements, and the impact of software changes on end users.
  • Time Management: Effective prioritization of tasks and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with changing requirements, ambiguous situations, and evolving project scopes.
  • Test Documentation: Ability to write and maintain clear test scripts, scenarios, and acceptance criteria.

 

To qualify for the role you must have

 

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Natural curiosity to proactively explore features beyond scripted scenarios, thinking like a real end user to uncover hidden issues and ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance processes and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Thorough understanding of SDLC methodologies and the role of UAT within project delivery.
  • Proficiency in testing tools and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, documentation and collaboration abilities.
  • 3 - 5 years working within Technology in a global firm

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Conceptual knowledge of Identity and Access Management technologies and processes
  • Knowledge of Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
