The opportunity
Transition Management refers to the structured process of moving business operations, services, or processes from one environment to another—such as from a client or legacy system to a new service provider, delivery centre, or operating model—while ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
Key Elements of Transition Management
- Planning: Creating detailed transition plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies.
- Knowledge Transfer: Ensuring all critical knowledge, documentation, and processes are transferred effectively.
- Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Managing communication and expectations across all involved parties.
- Operational Readiness: Ensuring systems, teams, and processes are ready for go-live.
- Stabilization: Monitoring performance post-transition and resolving issues to achieve steady-state operations.
In essence, it’s about seamlessly migrating processes and responsibilities while maintaining service quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Your key responsibilities
Transition Execution Support
- Assist in preparing transition plans, schedules, and documentation
- Track readiness deliverables and ensure completion
Operational Readiness Validation
- Support validation of:
- Deployment readiness (installation, configuration)
- Monitoring and alerting setup
- Backup, recovery, and failover readiness
- Ensure knowledge articles, SOPs, and training materials are prepared
Coordination & Follow-ups
- Follow up with application, infrastructure, and testing teams for readiness closure
- Track defects, risks, and action items
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain transition documents:
- Runbooks, checklists, acceptance artifacts
- Prepare status reports, dashboards, and updates
Support ELS/Warranty
- Assist during early life support phase
- Track incidents and ensure smooth stabilization
Skills and attributes for success
- 5–8 years’ experience
- Basic understanding of:
- Application lifecycle & deployment
- IT infrastructure and support models
- Familiarity with:
- ITIL concepts
- Service transition frameworks
- Strong coordination, tracking, and documentation skills
- Good proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
- Strong communication skills – Ability to clearly articulate updates and coordinate across stakeholders
- Basic project management & organization – Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and multiple workstreams effectively
- Stakeholder management capability – Comfort working with cross-functional teams and following up for deliverables
- Analytical & problem-solving skills – Ability to identify issues, analyze impacts, and support resolution
- Attention to detail – Ensuring accuracy in documentation, trackers, and readiness artefacts
- Working knowledge of IT service management (ITIL basics preferred) – Understanding of how services transition into operations
- Ability to work under pressure & manage priorities – Handling multiple transitions and deadlines simultaneously
- Collaborative mindset & teamwork – Ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional environments
- Proactive and continuous improvement mindset – Identifying gaps and suggesting improvements in processes or documentation.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Prior experience with Transition and or Project Management with knowledge around IT industry and ITIL concepts
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, IT, Operations Management, or related field.
