TAX TECHNOLOGY TRANSFORMATION – Data Science -Manager

EY GDS’s Tax Innovation, Solutions and Technology (IST) group as well as the Tax Tech Transformation (TTT) team’s mission is to develop, implement and integrate technology solutions that better serve our clients and engagement teams. As a member of EY’s core Tax practice, you’ll develop a deep tax technical knowledge and outstanding database, data analytics and programming skills.  

Ever-increasing regulations require tax departments to gather, organize and analyse more data than ever before. Often the data necessary to satisfy these ever-increasing and complex regulations must be collected from a variety of systems and departments throughout an organization. Effectively and efficiently handling the variety and volume of data is often extremely challenging and time consuming for a company.  

The opportunity

EY's GDS IST and TTT team members work side-by-side with the firm's partners, clients and tax technical subject matter experts to develop and incorporate technology solutions that enhance value-add, improve efficiencies and enable our clients with disruptive and market leading tools supporting Tax.  

GDS IST and TTT team works closely with clients and professionals in the following areas: Federal Business Tax Services, Partnership Compliance, Corporate Compliance, Indirect Tax Services, Human Capital, and Internal Tax Services. GDS Tax Technology provides solution architecture, application development, testing and maintenance support to the global TAX service line both on a pro-active basis and in response to specific requests.  

EY is currently seeking Manager to join our Tax Technology practice. 

Your key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-scale Machine Learning, and Generative AI solutions that address complex business and tax transformation challenges.
• Drive end-to-end ML solution delivery, including problem definition, data exploration, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
• Apply advanced statistical techniques, predictive modelling, simulation methods, NLP, and machine learning algorithms to address real-world business problems.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams of data scientists, AI engineers, and developers, promoting best practices in model development, MLOps, Security and solution delivery.
• Partner with business stakeholders, tax subject matter professionals, and clients to identify opportunities, translate requirements into AI/ML solutions, and communicate business impact.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of Generative AI solutions, including AI agents, copilots, RAG-based applications, and enterprise LLM integrations.
• Establish standards and governance for AI/ML and GenAI solutions, including model performance evaluation, responsible AI practices, scalability, and production readiness.
• Drive the design and governance of scalable RAG architectures, vector search solutions, orchestration frameworks, guardrails, security controls, and enterprise AI platforms.

Skills and attributes for success

• An overall experience of 10+ years with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Advanced Analytics.
• Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise AI/ML solutions, including predictive modelling, NLP, machine learning, recommendation systems, and generative AI applications.
• Proven success leading multiple AI/ML projects from ideation through production deployment while managing distributed teams and stakeholder expectations.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and strong understanding of software engineering, data engineering, cloud-native architectures, APIs, and scalable application development.
• Deep expertise in Generative AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, agentic AI frameworks, vector databases, model evaluation, and enterprise AI governance.
• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, driving technical discussions, and influencing strategic technology decisions.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematics from a reputed college OR Bachelors / Master’s degree in Science/ Engineering / MCA.
• Extensive experience leading the design, development, deployment, and operationalization of enterprise AI, ML, and Generative AI solutions.
• Experience managing technical teams, mentoring resources, and overseeing delivery governance across multiple workstreams.
• Tax application experience

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP, including AI and data platform services.
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AI Search, Fabric and modern AI/ML engineering practices.
• Strong business acumen, executive communication, stakeholder management.  What we look for
