Job Description: Studio Cameraman / Camera Operator – Corporate Studio

Job Title: Studio Cameraman / Camera Operator

Function: Brand, Marketing & Communications – EY GDS Studio

 

Role Overview

The Studio Cameraman is responsible for operating cameras within a controlled corporate studio environment that includes large chroma sets, a news desk, small chroma areas, and interview spaces. The role focuses on precise framing, technical accuracy, multi-camera coordination, and smooth execution of live or recorded studio productions.

This position supports leadership broadcasts, townhalls, panels, episodic video series, and internal communications content.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Studio Camera Operations
    • Operate studio cameras—PTZ, cinema, or broadcast cameras—as directed by the cinematographer.
    • Set up and adjust:
      • Framing & headroom
      • Focus & sharpness
      • Exposure, ISO, white balance
      • Camera angles for recurring studio formats
    • Ensure continuity across shoots (matching previous angles/settings).

 

  • Multi-Camera Production
    • Work with the broadcast engineer to align camera feeds for:
      • Live shows
      • Hybrid events
      • Multi-person interviews
      • News-style leadership updates
    • Follow real-time cues from the production team during live switching.
    • Coordinate rehearsals, blocking, and presenter movement.

 

  • Chroma & Virtual Set Support
    • Set up camera shots optimized for chroma keying:
      • Proper lighting and distance from screen
      • Clean edges for keying
      • Consistent framing for virtual set integration
    • Understand basic chroma composition requirements.

 

  • News Desk & Set-Based Shoots
    • Prepare static and dynamic shots for:
      • Anchor desk formats
      • Panel discussions
      • Fireside chats
      • CEO/Leader addresses
    • Work with the art director to ensure clean visual composition and background framing.

 

  • Equipment Management
    • Prepare, set up, and test camera gear before each shoot.
    • Ensure timely battery, media card, and monitor readiness.
    • Maintain hygiene and prevent dust or damage to lenses/sensors.
    • Identify and report any equipment issues immediately.

 

  • Collaboration & Production Support
    • Work closely with:
      • Cinematographer (visual style, lighting)
      • Broadcast engineer (camera feeds & signals)
      • Studio operations team
      • Content team (shot requirements)
    • Provide input on optimal angles, camera placement, and shot creativity within the studio environment.

 

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • 2–4 years of experience operating cameras in a studio environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • Studio cameras, PTZ systems, or cinema cameras
    • Tripods, pedestals, teleprompter-mounted cameras
    • Framing and composition for corporate communication
  • Understanding of:
    • Basic lighting principles
    • Multi-camera production workflows
    • Chroma/green screen shooting techniques
  • Ability to operate cameras in sync with live direction.

 

Behavioural Skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to take direction and deliver consistent results.
  • Professional communication and teamwork.

 

Education

  • Diploma/degree in Film, Video Production, Media, Mass Communication, or related fields.

 

Added advantage.

  • Familiarity with virtual sets, tracking, or mixed reality environments.
  • Exposure to corporate studio or newsroom-style setups.
  • Basic understanding of DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.
