Senior Consultant – Healthcare Data Architecture & Digital Health Consulting (Germany / EU)

The Opportunity

As a Senior Consultant within EY's Digital Health Excellence Center (DHEC), you will advise healthcare providers, public sector organizations, health systems, and digital health stakeholders on designing modern healthcare data ecosystems that enable interoperability, advanced analytics, and digital transformation initiatives across Germany and the European Union. You will bridge business, clinical, and technology domains to help clients realize value from healthcare data while ensuring compliance with European regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Healthcare Data Strategy & Consulting
  • Advise healthcare organizations on enterprise data strategies, target-state architectures, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to translate business and clinical requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Develop data governance, data quality, and information management frameworks aligned with healthcare industry best practices.
  • Support business case development and roadmap creation for digital health initiatives.
• Data Architecture & Interoperability
  • Design and implement healthcare data architectures integrating clinical, operational, and administrative data sources.
  • Develop logical and physical data models for structured and unstructured healthcare datasets.
  • Define interoperability approaches leveraging standards such as HL7 FHIR and related healthcare frameworks.
  • Enable seamless data exchange across EHRs, clinical systems, digital health platforms, and public health ecosystems.
• Cloud & Modern Data Platforms
  • Advise clients on cloud-based healthcare data platforms across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud environments.
  • Design data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT frameworks, API-enabled architectures, and scalable analytics platforms.
  • Support adoption of AI-enabled analytics and advanced reporting capabilities to improve healthcare outcomes and operational performance.
• Regulatory & Compliance Advisory
  • Ensure healthcare data solutions comply with GDPR, health data regulations, and applicable EU requirements.
  • Advise clients on data privacy, security, governance, and risk management considerations.
• Project Delivery & Leadership
  • Lead workstreams within complex healthcare transformation programs.
  • Collaborate with architects, clinicians, product teams, and executive stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to capability building within the Digital Health Excellence Center.
  • Support proposal development, business development activities, and client relationship management.

Experience & Qualifications

Required Experience

• 4–7 years of experience in healthcare consulting, healthcare IT, data architecture, health informatics, or digital transformation.
• Experience designing enterprise data solutions within healthcare or highly regulated industries.
• Proven experience working with multidisciplinary business and technology stakeholders.

Technical Expertise

• Data Architecture and Data Modelling.
• Healthcare Interoperability, including HL7 and FHIR.
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• ETL/ELT and Data Integration Platforms.
• Cloud Platforms, including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Data Governance and Master Data Management.
• Healthcare Analytics and AI-enabled Data Solutions.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

Languages

• German: C1 or above.
• English: C1 or above.
