The opportunity:
We are looking for Commercial Strategy Director (AD) who will be responsible for manifesting, conceptualizing and spearheading commercial strategy solutions, pursuits and engagements for global clients. Commercial Strategy is at the cusp of transformation and clients are leveraging it as a key differentiator to augment their market/business aspirations. We are looking for a profile who clearly understands this domain/area and who has been in the market for a long time dealing with clients (ideating/designing the solution, constructing the proposals/pursuits, winning it and being a part of implementation engagements across different clients globally) and having a full grasp on sector and functional nuances.
The commercial strategy includes areas such as revenue growth/sales acceleration, market creation, new products/territories advancements, new business models creation, pricing strategy, forecasting, launch strategy, commercial readiness, commercial ops model and Org design, salesforce/channel excellence, sales/marketing/branding effectiveness, sales/marketing interface with upstream functions and digital enablement etc.
Firms are envisaging new business models to remain competitive in the market. We are looking for a leader who has a visionary mindset, next generation approach, unconventional thinking, entrepreneurial modest, helping organizations to reimagine and scaling consumer centric business models.
Key responsibilities:
Deep understanding of market, clients, business, and commercial function needs/requirements. Having a strong thought leadership, knowhow of emerging trends (business and commercial/market) and industry/sector/functional nuances would be few key dimensions for this role.
The role would manifest:
- Pragmatic pursuits and implementation experience (with ROI/outcome enablement) with end clients (Globally/India: Onsite with direct client interface).
- Strong proficiency in client conversations, architecting a deal/solution, selling and leading an engagement.
- Significant ROI/outcome achievement for clients (leading to revenue growth, TSR/EV growth, customers increase etc.)
- Ability to foresee client needs in sales, marketing, markets, products, pricing, promotions, branding, planning etc. and designing it from strategy, processes and technology enablement areas.
- End to end enablement (business thinking, ideation, solution enablement/design, implementation and value realization).
- Extensive experience working on commercial strategy sales/pursuits/implementation engagements (numerous such instances for global clients). Should have worked on differentiated/innovative business models.
- Deep understanding of industry and commercial function’s emerging trends and direction.
- Strong business & thought leadership and global outlook on various areas as stated above.
- Ability to proactively identify the future needs (3-5+ years ahead) and align those dimensions into a commercial strategy opportunity.
- Enabling priorities and strategic imperatives into new solutions through a consultative approach.
- Ability to identify future needs, create a solution, align with the EY teams and position it effectively in the market.
- GTM and commercialization of solution including industry/sub-industry orientation.
- Digital avenues exploration and enabling it into solutions
- Ability/Flexibility to lead/work on strategic global client engagements.
- Embedding EY framework and methodology and bringing the best practices.

- Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills and cultural dimensions.
- Intercultural intelligence and experience of working in more than one country and/or multi-cultural teams with distributed delivery experience.
- Ability to work with teams across countries (including different time zones).
- Emphasize on business & practice development and team management/coaching/leadership inculcation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to meet tight deadlines and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
To qualify for the role, you must have the following dimensions:
- 10+ years of global/Indian direct client experience in commercial strategy/function
- Proven record of revenue/profitability enablement (across markets/countries) from developed solutions in the past. Had an experience of scaling up business through solution distinctiveness.
- Ability to think from business perspectives, bringing in industry and sector nuances while building solutions.
- Creating new solutions & improvising existing ones and weaving together existing ones to build robust solutions.
- Having an intricate awareness of sector trends, business, process, and nuances. Expertise in one or more sectors (end to end)
- Ability to relate the solution success with outcome/ROI orientation. An eye on differentiation, transformation and reimagination of business globally
- Facilitate full implementation life cycle from scoping to deployment of critical & complex custom designed, multi-tiered, business applications that deliver exceptional business value.
- Participated in project discovery & definition workshops contributing to creating scope & estimates.
- Collaboration with internal & external stakeholders to help maximize the value of services.
- Willingness to mentor team members.
- Excellent thoughtfulness, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Ability to think strategically/end-to-end with result-oriented mindset.
- Ability to build rapport within the firm and win the trust of the clients.
- Willingness to travel extensively and to work on client sites / practice office locations.

- Strategy/Consulting firms such as MBB, Big 4s, Boutique firms etc. (current and past). They may be currently working in industry roles and can be considered provided they have past experience of Strategy/consulting firms.
Experience and Education:
- An MBA or equivalent Master's degree from top institutes such as IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS etc. and a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or Analytics.
- 10+ years of experience. At least 7+ years of progressive post-graduate management consulting experience in top-tier consulting firms.
- Must be willing and able to travel on short notice.
