EY GDS - Risk Consulting - Process and Controls - Manager - HSW sector

Role Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Manager for the EY GDS Risk Consulting – Process & Controls team, specializing in the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) sector. The role involves leading internal audits, internal controls assessments, business process reviews, and sector-focused risk consulting engagements for global clients. You will collaborate with EY member firms worldwide, leveraging advanced technologies and industry-leading practices to deliver high-quality outcomes.

 

The opportunity

This is a client-facing role in a rapidly growing practice. You will work closely with senior stakeholders on complex risk, process, and controls engagements while contributing to the development of innovative, technology-enabled solutions, leveraging propriety (emerging) tools and technologies - such as GenAI, Advanced Analytics and RPA. You’ll gain broad exposure across global HSW clients, strengthening your domain expertise and leadership capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Engagement delivery

  • Lead and manage multiple risk consulting engagements—Internal Audit, Internal Controls, SOX 404, and business process reviews—in the HSW sector.
  • Oversee engagement teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables aligned with EY’s global standards, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify process gaps, assess risks, and design improvement recommendations based on industry’s best practices and client’s business environment.
  • Apply a structured, solution focused approach to problem solving while executing engagements and preparing high quality audit reports, working papers and client communications.
  • Continuously monitor engagement progress, manage risks, and ensure timely communication of status and expected outcomes to key stakeholders (client as well as internal).
  • Proactively identify engagement related risks and escalate issues in a timely manner in accordance with firm protocols.

 

Market, Leadership and Growth

  • Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and EY member firm teams across regions.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives including proposals, RFP responses, and thought leadership for the HSW sector - by bringing in/ displaying deep sector knowledge.
  • Support automation and innovation initiatives leveraging GenAI, Advanced Analytics and RPA to enhance service delivery.
  • Stay updated on sector trends, regulatory reforms, and emerging risks; translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Shape strategy for expanding EY GDS presence in the HSW sector and strengthening global account integration.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster business growth and guide business decisions.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Drive engagement productivity improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage engagement budgets and ensure compliance with engagement terms as well as EY’s global quality & risk management procedures.

 

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Strong analytical, structured thinking, and consulting skills.
  • Prior experience delivering risk consulting solutions (internal audits, internal controls, business process reviews) for clients in HSW sector.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills.
  • Proficiency with GenAI tools, MS Office, data analytics, and data validation.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Big Four or top-tier consulting experience preferred.

 

To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have

  • 8+ years of experience in consulting or industry roles focusing on process and controls, internal audits, internal controls and business process evaluation.
  • Ability to deliver client engagements and impactful solutions tailored to HSW sector - with experience (including but not limited to) around hospital operations, clinical research and development, health systems, healthcare analytics, compliance monitoring, GxP assessments, contract management, payer environments, digital health, etc.
  • Understanding of global healthcare delivery models such as acute care, ambulatory care, value-based care, integrated care, telehealth.
  • Familiarity with healthcare reforms, digital health trends and emerging risks in the HSW space.
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver sector-focused solutions for global clients.
  • Leadership skills with experience guiding and motivating high-performance teams.
  • Ability to think differently and innovate.

 

Ideally, You Will Also Have

  • Experience mentoring junior professionals and managing performance cycles.
  • Responsible for the performance and appraisal of direct reports, including training and developing necessary skill sets to enable them to grow in their careers.
  • Ability to lead sector-specific upskilling programs and build solution assets in collaboration with EY Global SMRs / sector leaders.
  • Experience growing/stabilizing GDS roles on global accounts and contributing to multi-region delivery models.
