EY‑GDS: Business Consulting – SC&O (Supply Chain & Operations) – Consultant (Procurement Operations)
As part of our EY‑GDS Procurement Operations team, you will support day‑to‑day procurement operations for global clients. As a consultant, you will perform transactional procurement activities including PR‑to‑PO processing, basic contract administration support, supplier onboarding coordination and foundational spend analysis. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, timely service delivery and continuous process improvement.
The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Consultant with 1–3 years of experience in procurement operations, shared services, or supply‑chain roles. The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn procurement processes, familiarity with ERP/procurement tools, and the ability to support high‑volume operational tasks in a global managed‑services environment.
Your key responsibilities
PR‑to‑PO Operations
- Create and process purchase requisitions based on requester inputs, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and correct Buying Channel selection (catalog, guided buying, free text, spot buy, sourcing event initiation).
- Validate catalog content, pricing accuracy, and availability before converting PRs to POs.
- Convert PRs to POs after validating documentation, basic compliance checks, and alignment with contracts and catalog items.
- Execute PO amendments, updates, and closure activities as directed, ensuring proper documentation and approval routing.
- Track order status, follow up with suppliers on delivery, advance shipping notices, and assist with initial issue resolution.
- Maintain PR‑PO logs and update internal systems with the required status information.
- Support adjacent I2P activities such as GR/SES tracking, invoice block clarification, and basic 3‑way match escalations.
Contract Management
- Assist in uploading contracts and amendments into contract repositories or CLM systems.
- Maintain contract metadata, version control, folder hygiene, and linkage between contracts, catalogs, and PO’s.
- Help track contract expiries and notify stakeholders for renewals, ensuring correct updates in catalogs and PO references.
- Support contract migration activities by validating, tagging, and organizing documents under guidance from senior team members.
Supplier Management
- Coordinate supplier onboarding documentation (KYC, tax forms, bank details, certifications), ensuring data completeness and compliance.
- Create and update Vendor Master records in ERP/MDM systems with high data accuracy and adherence to governance rules.
- Support basic supplier due‑diligence activities by gathering required documents, conducting initial screenings, and performing checklist validations.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance (delays, rejections, open issues) and escalate concerns as per process.
- Support initial supplier communication and Helpdesk‑related clarifications on onboarding and PO‑related queries.
Spend Analytics & Optimization
- Extract spend data from systems and prepare basic reports/dashboards in Excel, BI tools, or Power BI.
- Categorize spend, validate coding accuracy, and help identify off‑catalog / non‑compliant purchases.
- Support senior team members in preparing spend‑based insights for sourcing, compliance improvement, and buying channel optimization.
- Assist in identifying repetitive spot buys or free‑text spend that can be converted into catalog items.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Operational Excellence
- Collaborate with requestors, suppliers, category teams, sourcing teams, Vendor Master teams, and finance to resolve simple operational queries.
- Support procurement Helpdesk by addressing level‑1 queries, process clarifications, and issue routing.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, standard workflows, buying channels, and audit guidelines.
- Follow SLAs, maintain data accuracy, and contribute to smooth, daily procurement operations.
- Support creation and maintenance of Desktop Procedures (DTPs), SOPs, work instructions, and process maps.
- Participate in BPO delivery activities, supporting continuous improvement and process adherence.
Transition Support (Pre‑KT to Hypercare)
- Assist during Pre‑KT and KT planning activities by preparing documentation, templates, and checklists.
- Participate in Knowledge Transfer, including Job Shadowing and Reverse Job Shadowing to learn processes and demonstrate understanding.
- Support Go‑Live activities by updating trackers, validating transactions, and reporting early defects.
- Contribute to Hypercare stabilization by helping resolve basic issues, updating logs, and supporting ticket resolution activities.
Skills and attributes for success
- Foundational understanding of procurement operations (PR‑PO, supplier data, contract basics).
- Familiarity with ERP and procurement tools (SAP, Ariba, Coupa, GEP or similar) is an advantage.
- Any transition experience is an add-on.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and data‑entry discipline.
- Good communication skills and willingness to coordinate with global stakeholders.
- Basic analytical skills with working knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables preferred).
- Proactive, eager to learn and capable of working in a fast‑paced delivery environment.
To qualify for the role, you should have
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Commerce, Engineering or related fields.
- 1–3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, shared services or operations roles.
- Basic understanding of procurement processes and ERP workflows.
- Willingness to learn procurement tools, workflows and global delivery processes.
- Ability to work in an SLA‑driven environment with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.
What we look for
- A motivated, detail‑oriented individual with strong willingness to learn and grow in procurement operations.
- Someone who demonstrates discipline, reliability and commitment to delivering quality work.
- A team player who supports colleagues, takes initiative and contributes to a collaborative culture.
- Curiosity, adaptability and an interest in building a long‑term career in procurement consulting or managed services.
