The opportunity

The product owner will be responsible for the technology analysis, end user research, future product planning, and cradle-to-grave life-cycle management of the product that is developed. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, create a vision of the product from an end user perspective, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with a technology counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work closely with various stakeholders to make business decisions and create product strategies that ensure the long-term sustainability of the products or tools. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Identifying, evaluating, and planning new software products using lean/agile principles.
  • Creating use-cases and related requirements materials for use by our development/technology teams
  • Defining minimum viable product features (MVP) and/or pivoting existing products.
  • Propose product strategy changes because of competitive changes in the marketplace.
  • Working cross-functionally, define and drive alignment and implementation of the software roadmap including products, services, and solutions.
  • Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams across business, technical and implementation teams to define product requirements to build and own the product roadmap.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog together with product management.
  • Report to Global leadership on product status, management of budget etc.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of customers’ challenges and needs to clearly define product requirements
  • Manage the product life cycle
  • Assist in the build / buy strategy including recommendations for current solutions
  • Communicate and drive organizational alignment on software deployment with key stakeholders including end users
  • Works with the technology and client services teams to build and enhance products from existing ideas, and help develop new concepts based on industry research and the needs of end user

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience with HR / Payroll technology solutions and a good understanding of global HRIS / HR / Payroll technology landscape
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Ability to effectively work as a leader in a cross functional team environment including business and product development, supply chain and procurement processes and execution dependencies
  • Strong track record of influencing successful product/solution vision/roadmap and executing to a plan
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and expertise in communicating with teams across geographies
  • Excellent knowledge of Design Thinking and User Experience methodologies.
  • Strategic thinker who is comfortable in a fast-paced, always-on, ambiguous start-up environment

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in engineering (Computer Science/ Technology
  • 12 - 15 years of experience in IT/software industry with at least 6 years in capacity of product manager.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge and experience in dealing with cross platform mobile applications.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high quality technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
