Job Title: Senior Manager – Platform Engineering

Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager – Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, engineering, and operations of a scalable enterprise platform supporting data products and corporate finance transformation.

This role combines platform architecture, engineering execution, and people leadership, with accountability for secure, reliable, and cost-efficient shared capabilities. The ideal candidate will enable application and data engineering teams through self-service infrastructure, standardized delivery workflows, and a strong developer experience, supporting finance transformation solutions across P2P, O2C, R2R, and FP&A.

You will own the platform engineering roadmap, delivery governance, and team development, partnering with product, architecture, security, and business leaders to improve engineering productivity and deliver measurable business outcomes across client engagements.

Responsibilities:

Technology & Architecture Leadership

  • Own the platform engineering strategy and architecture roadmap, aligning cloud infrastructure, shared services, and modernization priorities with business and product goals.
  • Lead the design and evolution of secure, resilient cloud-native platforms, including container orchestration, networking, identity, secrets management, and standardized environments.
  • Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, infrastructure-as-code patterns, and automated guardrails for consistent provisioning and operation of platform services.
  • Enable application, data, and AI/ML workloads through reusable platform capabilities, APIs, integration patterns, and scalable compute and storage services.
  • Own CI/CD and release engineering capabilities, including automated testing, security checks, artifact management, deployment strategies, and rollback readiness.
  • Provide technical leadership for critical incidents, architectural reviews, and complex engineering decisions; drive root-cause analysis and durable corrective actions.

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Lead delivery planning and governance across platform workstreams, managing priorities, dependencies, risks, and commitments against agreed business outcomes.
  • Embed agile, DevOps, and SRE practices, including service ownership, observability, on-call readiness, incident response, and tested disaster recovery.
  • Define and track service-level indicators and objectives, agreed SLAs, and engineering delivery metrics to improve reliability, deployment performance, and recovery times.
  • Drive capacity planning, performance optimization, and FinOps practices; manage platform budgets and vendors to improve cost efficiency without compromising reliability.
  • Partner with security and governance teams to embed access controls, vulnerability remediation, auditability, data protection, and compliance requirements into platform operations.

Team Leadership & Talent Management

  • Lead and scale multidisciplinary platform engineering teams spanning cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and automation; develop engineering managers and technical leads.
  • Build a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and measurable outcomes.
  • Own workforce planning, hiring, performance management, succession planning, and capability development aligned with the platform roadmap.
  • Coach managers and engineers on technical judgment, execution discipline, stakeholder engagement, and career growth; delegate effectively while maintaining accountability.

Business & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with product teams, enterprise architects, security leaders, finance transformation stakeholders, and clients to translate business needs into platform priorities.
  • Balance platform investment, delivery capacity, risk, and business value; align stakeholders on trade-offs, service expectations, and measurable outcomes.
  • Support solutioning, proposals, and client discussions with platform architecture, delivery estimates, operating models, and cost considerations.
  • Communicate roadmap progress, investment needs, service health, delivery risks, and business impact clearly to executive stakeholders.

Platform & Product Mindset

  • Manage the platform as an internal product, using developer feedback and adoption metrics to prioritize capabilities that reduce friction and accelerate delivery.
  • Build self-service workflows, reusable infrastructure modules, service catalogs, and standardized delivery paths with clear documentation and onboarding.
  • Measure platform value through adoption, developer satisfaction, onboarding time, delivery lead time, and reduced operational toil; enable secure analytics and AI use cases.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of experience across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE, including substantial architecture and delivery ownership.
  • 5+ years of engineering people-management experience, with a demonstrated track record of leading multiple teams and developing engineering managers or technical leads.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including networking, identity, security, resilience, and cloud operating models.
  • Strong expertise in cloud-native architecture, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and automated environment provisioning.
  • Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, observability, and automation using relevant tools and languages (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Argo CD, OpenTelemetry, Python, or Go).
  • Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and shared platform services; experience enabling data platforms and integration workloads.
  • Experience with secure-by-design engineering, identity and access management, secrets management, software supply-chain security, and enterprise governance.

Operational & Delivery Skills

  • Proven ability to deliver enterprise platform programs, manage cross-team dependencies, and establish effective execution and risk governance.
  • Experience implementing DevOps and SRE practices, including SLOs, error budgets, incident management, post-incident reviews, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Strong understanding of scalability, capacity planning, performance tuning, cloud cost optimization, budget ownership, and vendor management.

Domain & Functional Knowledge

  • Understanding of enterprise data and application needs; exposure to corporate finance processes (P2P, O2C, R2R, and FP&A) is preferred.
  • Experience supporting finance transformation, analytics platforms, or other data-intensive enterprise products is highly desirable.

Leadership & Behavioral Skills

  • Strong people leadership, organizational planning, and talent development skills, with the ability to lead through managers and technical leads.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level engagement and influence across business and technology teams.
  • Ability to balance long-term platform strategy with pragmatic delivery, sound technical judgment, and hands-on engagement when needed.
  • High ownership mindset focused on platform adoption, developer productivity, reliability, and measurable business outcomes.
