Opportunity
The Global Vice Chair Communications - Assistant Director, is responsible for shaping and executing clear, authentic, and strategic communications that amplify the GVC’s voice, drive alignment across the organization, build trust with key stakeholders, and support business growth and opportunity generation. This role works closely with the organization’s CMO to co-lead the development and delivery of the GVC communication strategy and narrative across internal and external channels, partnering closely with senior leadership to maximize visibility and impact. The role also ensures operational excellence, governance, and quality in communications delivery within the broader BMC framework.
Key responsibilities
- GVC Communications strategy and execution
- Define and execute the GVC communication strategy and calendar aligned with business priorities and growth objectives.
- Shape the GVC’s narrative across internal and external channels to ensure consistency, clarity, and authenticity.
- Advise and partner closely with CMO and senior leadership on messaging, visibility and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Identify and leverage external opportunities such as media, speaking engagements and thought leadership to support business development and enhance market positioning.
- Monitor market, competitor, and stakeholder sentiment to inform and adapt communication strategies proactively.
- Manage high-stakes and sensitive communications, including issues and crisis situations, providing timely and strategic guidance.
- Content and deliverables
- Develop and deliver strategic messaging frameworks aligned with business and market priorities.
- Create and oversee an external visibility roadmap including events, media engagements, and partnerships tied to business goals.
- Prepare media positioning materials, interview briefs, thought leadership content (articles, op-eds, LinkedIn posts), GVC speeches, keynote presentations, and talking points for internal and external audiences.
- Develop stakeholder communication plans for key business moments such as announcements and transformations.
- Produce crisis communication materials and provide executive guidance during sensitive situations.
- Provide regular insights and reporting on communication impact, stakeholder perception and market relevance.
- Deliver timely data, insights, and reports aligned with the centralized BMC performance reporting framework to demonstrate value and inform continuous improvement.
Qualifications and skills
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in strategic communications, marketing, or related fields; experience in professional services and complex matrix organizations.
- Proven experience leading integrated communications initiatives with multiple stakeholders, including senior leadership advisory.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages advantageous.
- Proficiency with business tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), collaboration platforms (Teams, SharePoint), and marketing/analytics AI tools.
- Ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones with a collaborative, service-oriented mindset.
- Experience managing sensitive, change management and crisis communications.
