Role name and description

Tax Senior – As part of the core-tax mobility team you would work on German tax returns and related activities for the expatriates from various clients. You will receive a training from EY in the standard tools and processes for the Germany tax compliance before being assigned to the job. High quality, good tax-technical knowledge, efficiency and good communication skills are the key success factors in this role. The role requires constant interacting with the clients/expatriates in English language.

Your key responsibilities

  • Analysis of fiscal data and tax questionnaires.
  • Preparation& Review of tax returns for tax residents and non-residents in Germany.
  • Preparation& Review of tax equalization calculations and hypothetical taxes
  • Review of tax assessments / tax inquiries issued by the German tax authority.
  • Conducting Tax briefings with English speaking expatriates
  • Participation in weekly calls with the Seniors and Managers in charge of the accounts.
  • Develop and supervise staff on all technical, client service and engagement management skills
  • Assist the Manager in engagement management
  • Proactively recognize issues and recommend solutions
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Facilitate problem solving and co-ordination
  • Be a role model and spearhead by example

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • 3+ years’ experience of working with Germany personal income tax
  • Experience with DATEV Income Tax software
  • Advanced students or graduates in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics.
  • Fluency in English language - both written and verbal

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Good systematic, numerical skills
  • Team player with good people management skills
  • Ability to work with remote team members and use technology effectively

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • German language proficiency will be an added advantage
