SAM- Staff – IBM Licensing
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Working in a team environment, the Staff - SAM is responsible for managing customer’s licenses. The Senior Consultant will assist customers in understanding and controlling their software licensing entitlement, avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing by leveraging industry best practices while expanding host company licensing opportunities and building more-profitable, long-term relationships with our customers.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities for the Role

- Extensive experience (2+ years) in software asset management, license compliance, or vendor management, with a focus on IBM software licensing. Mandatory
- Conduct thorough analysis of IBM software entitlements (Passport Advantage) to ensure accuracy and completeness. Good to have
- Validate license entitlements against contractual agreements, purchase records, and deployment data. Mandatory
- In-depth knowledge of IBM software products, licensing models, and contractual agreements. Good to have
- Proficiency in software asset management tools and systems (e.g., IBM License Metric Tool, FlexNet Manager, ServiceNow SAM, IBM License Service) preferred. Good to have
- Experience in project management, process improvement, or IT governance is desirable. Good to have
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Mandatory
- Applying and advising on complex IBM software licensing topics. Good to have
- Producing user and server based ELPs for IBM software. Mandatory
- Understanding IBM licensing concepts and product use rights. Mandatory
- Navigating IBM software billing, tracking, and measurement systems. Good to have
- Providing Cost Analysis based on the deployments identified. Good to have
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients. Mandatory
- Knowledge of IBM licensing concepts of Full-capacity vs Sub-capacity. Mandatory
Skills Required:
- 1-5 years professional experience in licensing industry with successful ITAM/SAM Management/ software licensing experience across publishers is a must.
- Familiarity of different publisher licensing models.
- Understanding of licensing scenarios, benefits, optimization opportunities, conceptual knowledge on use rights of BYOL concept.
- SAM Accreditation (good to have).
- Advanced Excel and data analytics skills.
- Previous exposure to asset management software; preferably with specific experience in ServiceNow and SAM.
