The opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Financial Crime Compliance consulting professional with strong domain expertise in AML, KYC, regulatory compliance and financial crime risk management.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of independently leading complex consulting engagements, advising senior leadership and C-suite stakeholders, and delivering regulatory and AML framework assessments for financial services clients.

This role requires deep regulatory knowledge, strategic advisory capabilities and strong consulting acumen, with the ability to translate complex compliance challenges into practical, risk-based and commercially sustainable solutions.

Your key responsibilities

Financial Crime Advisory and Consulting

  • Independently lead end-to-end Financial Crime Compliance consulting engagements across banking, financial services, FinTech and payments clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of AML/KYC frameworks, regulatory compliance programs, governance structures and financial crime control environments.
  • Advise clients on AML/CFT regulatory obligations, industry best practices and evolving financial crime risks.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of financial crime controls, identify gaps and recommend sustainable remediation strategies.
  • Lead regulatory gap assessments, compliance maturity assessments, target operating model reviews and financial crime transformation initiatives.

Regulatory Framework and Risk Assessments

  • Assess client compliance frameworks against applicable regulatory requirements and international standards, including FATF recommendations and relevant jurisdiction-specific AML/CFT regulations.
  • Lead enterprise-wide financial crime risk assessments, customer risk assessment framework reviews and risk-based due diligence evaluations.
  • Review policies, procedures, governance models, monitoring mechanisms and escalation frameworks.
  • Develop regulatory remediation roadmaps, control enhancement recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support regulatory examination preparedness, independent compliance reviews and audit remediation programs.

C Suite Advisory and Stakeholder Management

  • Independently manage strategic discussions with C-suite executives, Chief Compliance Officers, MLROs, Chief Risk Officers and senior business leaders.
  • Present regulatory assessment findings, compliance risks, strategic recommendations and transformation roadmaps to executive leadership.
  • Facilitate senior stakeholder workshops, challenge existing control frameworks constructively and influence risk-based decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex financial crime compliance matters.
  • Build and maintain strong executive relationships while managing stakeholder expectations throughout consulting engagements.

Consulting Engagement Leadership

  • Own consulting assignments from initial scoping and diagnostic assessment through solution design, delivery and executive presentation.
  • Lead client workshops, stakeholder interviews, regulatory gap analyses and compliance framework evaluations.
  • Develop high-quality consulting deliverables, including assessment reports, maturity models, executive dashboards, regulatory gap analyses and strategic recommendations.
  • Manage project governance, delivery milestones, risks, dependencies and stakeholder communications.
  • Guide cross-functional consulting teams and ensure timely delivery of high-quality advisory outcomes.

Business Development and Consulting Capability Building

  • Contribute to client proposals, RFP responses, solution design and consulting opportunity assessments.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Financial Crime Compliance advisory services within existing and prospective client accounts.
  • Develop reusable consulting methodologies, assessment frameworks, diagnostic tools and thought leadership content.
  • Support capability building, knowledge sharing and mentoring of junior consultants.

Skills and attributes for success

Skills and attributes for a successful career at EY require a learning mindset and a passion for adding value to GDS, member firms and client organizations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical judgement, delivery ownership, inclusive leadership and the ability to build trusted relationships across locations.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, with substantial exposure to Financial Crime Compliance advisory, regulatory consulting or risk management.
  • Prior experience with a Big Four consulting firm is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing Financial Crime Compliance consulting engagements for financial services clients.
  • Proven expertise in regulatory/AML framework assessments, compliance gap analyses, financial crime risk assessments and control effectiveness reviews.
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations, FATF standards, KYC/CDD/EDD requirements, transaction monitoring and financial crime governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and present recommendations to C-suite and senior compliance leadership.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, assessment reports, remediation strategies and regulatory advisory deliverables.
  • Strong consulting, analytical, problem-solving, project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CFE or equivalent Financial Crime Compliance credentials.
  • Experience advising multinational banks, payment institutions, FinTech organizations or other regulated financial institutions.
  • Exposure to regulatory remediation programs, AML compliance transformation, operating model design and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with international regulatory environments, including the US, UK, EU and APAC.
  • Experience contributing to consulting practice development, client acquisition or advisory solution design.

Ideally, you’ll also have
