GDS SaT – Transaction Strategy and Execution – Deal Tech (TSE IT) - Assistant Manager, India
The Opportunity
EY-Parthenon’s GDS Transaction Strategy and Execution (TSE) Technology team helps clients with IT-related aspects of M&A transactions:
- IT diligence: EY-Parthenon professionals evaluate a target's IT infrastructure to help clients assess its attractiveness.
- Deal tech: The TSE Technology team assesses the technology ecosystem and its role in M&A transactions.
- Cyber: The TSE Technology team helps clients evaluate key technology risks.
- Software Strategy Group: The TSE Technology team helps clients with software strategy.
EY-Parthenon’s GDS TSE Technology professionals help clients navigate transaction risk and increase value from the beginning of a deal to its execution.

Job Description: Vulqan Platform Specialist (Structured & Unstructured Data)
Role Overview
We are looking for a data professional who can operate and support the Vulqan data intelligence platform across both structured and unstructured data for M&A use cases such as IT Due Diligence, data separation, retention, and integration. The role focuses on ingesting data, logical modeling, applying business rules, and enabling deal teams with actionable data insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and manage the Vulqan platform for active M&A engagements
- Ingest and analyze structured data (ERP, CRM, HR systems) and unstructured data (files, documents, collaboration platforms)
- Build and manage logical data models across structured and unstructured sources
- Perform entity mapping and metadata tagging across systems and content repositories
- Apply M&A‑specific business rules (carve‑out scope, retention, access, shared data)
- Validate data quality, completeness, and classification accuracy
- Support diligence, separation, retention, and integration workflows
- Assist with Vulqan demos, enablement, and internal knowledge transfer
Required Skills & Experience
Structured Data Skills (Must‑Have)
- Strong understanding of enterprise structured data
- Hands‑on experience with systems such as:
- SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics
- Salesforce, Workday (preferred)
- Proficient in:
- SQL
- Data extracts, tables, schemas, relationships
- APIs and flat‑file ingestion
- Hands‑on experience working with unstructured data, such as:
- File shares
- SharePoint / OneDrive / Google Drive
- Document repositories, emails, PDFs
- Understanding of:
- File metadata (ownership, location, access, timestamps)
- Content classification and tagging
- Sensitive data identification (PII, PCI, financial, legal)
- Ability to support use cases like:
- Data discovery
- Retention and disposal analysis
- Separation of shared vs standalone content
- Hands‑on experience with Vulqan,
- Ingest both structured and unstructured data
- Perform logical unification instead of simple ETL
- Apply business logic across data and content
The candidate should be able to:
- Configure ingestion pipelines
- Map structured entities and unstructured content logically
- Troubleshoot ingestion and classification issues independently
- Familiarity with one or more of:
- IT / Data Due Diligence
- Data separation and carve‑outs
- Retention and decommissioning
- TSA‑driven data decisions
- Understands how data insights are consumed by consultants and clients
- Translate business questions into data and content logic, such as:
- “Which content belongs to the carved‑out entity?”
- “What unstructured data cannot be cleanly separated?”
- Comfortable working with incomplete, messy, or evolving datasets
What this person will DO (Day‑to‑Day)
- Run and manage the Vulqan platform for active deals
- Ingest and model data from multiple enterprise systems
- Configure logical data models and mappings
- Support deal teams with data insights
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and auditability
- Work with consultants to enable DD, separation, and integration use cases
- Help prepare demos and client walkthroughs (once mature)

To qualify for the role, you must have
- A post Graduate degree in engineering from a premier institute with 3-5 years of applicable consulting experience
- Strong experience working with enterprise data platforms, including both structured (ERP, CRM, HR systems) and unstructured data (file shares, SharePoint, documents).
- Hands‑on ability to configure and operate the Vulqan data intelligence platform (or similar logical data modeling platforms).
- Solid understanding of data ingestion, mapping, metadata management, and business‑rule application.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience handling large, complex enterprise datasets.
- Exposure to M&A use cases such as IT Due Diligence, data separation, retention, or integration (strongly preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate business questions into data logic.
