EY GDS Associate Director – Data Governance Architect
As part of our EY-GDS, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Energy and Auto, Supply Chain, HR and Finance.
The opportunity
Looking for a senior, client-facing Enterprise Data Governance Architect responsible for engaging C suite stakeholders, with deep expertise in designing enterprise data governance framework and a proven track record supporting pre sales activities, deal support, and solution shaping. This role requires a blend of technical leadership, enterprise architecture mindset, client engagement skills, and helping clients design trusted, scalable, and AI ready data foundations.
Should have a strong sector knowledge in at least one sectors – Healthcare, Consumer, Energy, Manufacturing, Auto or TMT.
Your key responsibilities
- Data Governance Platforms
- Deep pre-sales expertise across cloud ecosystems: Azure, AWS, GCP.
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, quality, and access controls. Have an AI first approach to solving problem
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data Governance tools- Collibra, Alation, Purview, Informatica, Unity catalog, or similar
- Cloud Data Platforms – Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Google Big Query,
- Programming – SQL, Python, PySpark, Scala, Rest API, Json/YAML
- Security & Access Governance
- Azure Active Directory / Entra ID (identity & role management)
- RBAC / ABAC frameworks
- Native governance controls in Azure, AWS, GCP
- Data Governance Strategy & Architecture
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Designing end to end data governance architecture across cloud and hybrid platforms
- Defining operating models for data ownership, stewardship, policies, and road maps aligned to business, regulatory, and technology strategies
- Enabling governance by design for BI, analytics, and AI use cases
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Leadership & Consulting

- Exceptional ability to bridge business and technology, advising executives on data governance, risk, and compliance strategy, and value creation.
- Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.

- AI & Advanced Analytics Exposure
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, and Azure OpenAI, and their integration with enterprise BI
- Strong understanding of AI ready data governance, ensuring data quality, lineage, ethics, and compliance for AI/ML and GenAI workloads
- Ability to align data governance and AI governance models to manage risk across data and AI lifecycles
- Experience supporting analytics driven organizations with governed data foundations for advanced insights
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong understanding of cloud native data and governance framework across Azure, AWS, or GCP, and modern analytics modernization patterns
- Hands-on experience with:

- End to end data governance architecture across cloud and hybrid platforms
- Operating models for ownership, stewardship, and policy alignment
- Governance by design for BI, analytics, and AI use cases
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to bridge business and technology, translating complex requirements into trusted, scalable, and AI ready data foundations
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms: Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, Azure OpenAI.
To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have
- Minimum 16+ years of industry experience, with 7+ years in data Governance architecture.
- Proven experience in delivering enterprise-grade governance programs
- Experience in working & managing global stakeholders.
- Should have driven significant business outcomes as a part of their role.
- Hands on exposure to cloud data platforms and governance tooling
- Have deep Pre-sales experience leading and supporting deals
- Experience in responding to RFPs/RFIs, creating technical documentation, and leading solution design workshops.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- Pre-sales, client management skills.
- Experience in solutioning and pre-sales engagements.
- Exposure to data mesh principles and domain-oriented data product design.
- Familiarity with data fabric, data mesh and multi-cloud data strategies.
- Familiarity with real-time analytics
