EY GDS – AI & Data – Manager – Data Architect
As part of our EY-GDS AI & Data team, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Energy and Auto, Supply Chain, HR and Finance.
The opportunity
We’re looking for Senior Managers (Senior Data Architects) with strong technology and data understanding having proven Pre-sales & Delivery capability. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm as well as a part of a growing Consulting Business.
Your key responsibilities
- Architecture & Solutioning
- Drive customer interactions to understand business needs, pain points, and solution expectations.
- Shape and present cloud‑based data architecture options that balance feasibility, scalability, and cost.
- Develop clear solution outlines, architecture diagrams, and value messaging for pre‑sales pursuits.
- Recommend data ingestion, transformation, governance, and consumption patterns aligned to modern architecture principles.
- Support creation of POCs, demos, and technical accelerators to strengthen proposal impact.
- Pre‑Sales Engagement & Deal Support
- Partner with sales and senior architects to define solution scope, craft technical responses, and support RFP/RFI submissions.
- Prepare effort estimates, delivery approaches, and high‑level work breakdowns for client proposals.
- Deliver concise, compelling technical presentations and walkthroughs to influence client decisions.
- Collaborate with pursuit teams to differentiate EY’s solution through clarity, innovation, and practical implementation insights.
- Technical Depth & Delivery Alignment
- Bring prior delivery experience to ensure solutions are implementable, scalable, and aligned with engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to validate estimates, identify risks, and define resourcing requirements.
- Contribute hands‑on when needed by building data pipelines, models, and integration components using PySpark, SQL, Python, and cloud services.
- Ensure pre‑sales solutions translate seamlessly into delivery-ready architectures.
- Governance, Standards & Best Practices
- Apply relevant patterns such as ETL/ELT, streaming, Lakehouse, CDC, and dimensional modelling where appropriate.
- Incorporate data governance, quality, lineage, and cataloging principles into all proposed solutions.
- Ensure consistency with security, performance, and compliance requirements across cloud ecosystems.
- Collaboration & Internal Enablement
- Work cross‑functionally with engineering, cloud, and domain teams to shape winning solution strategies.
- Mentor team members by sharing best practices, reusable templates, and architecture patterns.
- Help strengthen the practice by contributing to collaterals, frameworks, and repeatable pre‑sales assets.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong working knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure mandatory. AWS/GCP is a plus). Must have strong skills in Databricks, Snowflake.
- Hands on skills in Azure Data Services (ADF, ADB, Data Lake, Synapse/Fabric), and solid proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Good understanding of streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hubs, Spark Streaming) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Practical experience with data modelling, data governance, metadata management, and data quality/lineage fundamentals.
- Ability to engage and influence customers, simplifying technical concepts for business stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration mindset — able to bridge pre sales and delivery teams to ensure implementable, high quality solutions.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms (Azure ML, Cognitive Services, Azure OpenAI) is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, crisp communication, and a solution oriented approach in client conversations.
To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have
- Minimum 10+ years of industry experience, with 5+ years in data architecture and analytics.
- Experience in working & managing global stakeholders.
- Should have driven significant business outcomes as a part of their role.
- Proven experience in enterprise-grade solution implementations.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in data strategy, cloud-native architectures, and analytics modernization.
- Have deep Pre-sales experience leading and supporting deals
- Experience in responding to RFPs/RFIs, creating technical documentation, and leading solution design workshops.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- Pre-sales, client management skills.
- Experience in solutioning and pre-sales engagements.
- Exposure to data mesh principles and domain-oriented data product design.
- Familiarity with data fabric, data mesh and multi-cloud data strategies.
- Familiarity with real-time analytics
