The opportunity
We’re looking for a candidate with 9 to 12 years of expertise in data strategy and governance, having solid understanding of financial services (banking/insurance/wealth management) domain. Act as SME to a larger team in EY GDS AI & Data team to work on various Data Governance and Strategy projects
Your key responsibilities
- Lead and guide Data Governance and Data Strategy engagements, collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Develop and define holistic data strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives across multiple business units
- Architect and design comprehensive data governance frameworks and strategic initiatives independently
- Provide thought leadership and best practices on data strategy, governance, and management to clients and internal teams
- Interface and communicate effectively with onsite/client contacts and executive leadership
- Deliver timely status updates, strategic insights, and leadership reports to client and internal stakeholders
Skills and attributes for success
- Use an issue-based, strategic approach to deliver data governance and data strategy engagements that drive business growth and operational excellence
- Strong communication, presentation, and team leadership skills with experience producing high-quality strategic reports, whitepapers, and presentations
- Experience in conducting market and competitive analysis to inform data strategy and governance frameworks
- Ability to translate complex data governance concepts into actionable business strategies
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Should have 9-12 years of experience in Data governance processes and frameworks
- Must have experience in defining holistic data strategy and roadmap, across business units for large clients.
- Must be familiar with policies, processes, frameworks and tools to manage the different enterprise data assets – Master data, reference data, metadata etc.
- Experience in defining data governance operating models including data ownership, stewardship, decision rights, governance councils and RACI structures across business and technology teams.
- Strong understanding of data quality management including profiling, rule definition, issue management, root-cause analysis, remediation workflows and governance KPIs.
- Hands-on knowledge of metadata management, business glossary, data cataloguing, data lineage and impact analysis to improve data discoverability, trust and regulatory traceability.
- Ability to align data strategy with business value drivers, regulatory expectations, risk management priorities, target-state data architecture and measurable transformation roadmaps.
- Exposure to data privacy, security, retention, access control and regulatory compliance considerations relevant to financial services data ecosystems.
- Experience driving governance adoption through stakeholder workshops, data literacy initiatives, change management, playbooks, reusable templates and executive-level reporting.
- Must have hands on experience implementing atleast one end-to-end Data Governance solution - using Collibra, Informatica, Alation etc
- Should have thorough understanding and experience of software development best practices
- Should exhibit a keen eye for value-adds and asset creation, to facilitate reusability and automation of processes.
- Good to have - Industry certifications such as DCAM, CDMP, DAMA etc
- Good exposure to DB technologies and SQL.
- Knowledge of the Cloud landscape – AWS, Azure, GCP etc.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Good knowledge about Insurance domain – L&A, P&C etc.
- Understanding of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Data Modelling concepts.
- Must have led a team size of at least 4-5 members.
- Prior Client facing skills, self-motivated and collaborative
