Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) and PostgreSQL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2-7 years of relevant experience in database administration, with a focus on MSSQL and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain MSSQL and PostgreSQL database environments, ensuring their performance, availability, and security.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools.
• Monitor database performance and implement performance tuning strategies as necessary.
• Implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
• Perform database schema changes and migrations as needed.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum two years of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2019/2022 DBA experience.
• Experience with SQL Server Always On availability groups
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience supporting multiple production, QA, and development servers.
• Good Transact SQL skills – ability to write and tune complicated stored procedures and views utilizing inner and outer joins, etc.
• Experience with large databases (> 250 GB).
• Experience supporting SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2019/2022 replication.
• Experience in new installation, upgrade, configuration of SQL Server and its components.
• Performance tuning experience.
• Cloud experience on any platform (Azure/AWS) with Azure preferred.
• 2-4 years of client-server experience with emphasis on SQL programming.
• Experience recovering databases after hardware or other catastrophic failures.
• Good customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL administration.
• Experience with other database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
