Senior Integration Developer – IBM API Connect, DataPower & IBM ACE

 

 

Experience Required:

 

  • 3–5 years relevant hands on experience in integration, API development, and middleware platforms.

 

 

Role Overview

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Integration Developer with strong expertise in IBM API Connect, IBM DataPower Gateway, and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE). The ideal candidate will design, build, secure, and maintain integration solutions and APIs for enterprise grade applications. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, solution architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high performance, scalable, and secure integration services.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • API Development & Management
    • Design, build, and manage APIs using IBM API Connect (v10x).
    • Develop API products, plans, rate limiting, OAuth, JWT, and security policies.
    • Implement API lifecycle management including versioning, publishing, and analytics monitoring.
  • DataPower Development
    • Develop, configure, and secure services on IBM DataPower Gateway.
    • Create Multi Protocol Gateways (MPG), XML firewalls, and API gateways.
    • Implement security standards: TLS, mutual SSL, OAuth, SAML, LDAP integrations.
    • Develop transformations using XSLT, GatewayScript, and DataPower policies.
  • IBM ACE (App Connect Enterprise) Integration
    • Design and develop integration flows using ACE/IIB toolkit.
    • Work with message flows, ESQL, JavaCompute nodes, REST/SOAP integrations.
    • Integrate with databases (DB2, SQL, Oracle), MQ, Kafka, and cloud endpoints.
  • DevOps, CI/CD & Deployment
    • Experience with DevOps pipelines for API Deployment (Git, Jenkins, UrbanCode, Azure DevOps).
    • Manage configurations, environments, and deployment automation.
    • Containerization experience using Docker and platforms like OpenShift/Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Performance, Monitoring & Troubleshooting
    • Conduct performance tuning for DataPower and ACE flows.
    • Monitor APIs and gateways using API Connect analytics, Splunk, ELK, or similar tools.
    • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and apply permanent fixes.
  • Documentation & Standards
    • Create technical designs, mapping documents, deployment guides, and operational documentation.
    • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise integration standards and security guidelines.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications

 

Technical Skills

 

  • IBM API Connect v10 – API development, assembly flows, OAuth, security, API lifecycle.
  • IBM DataPower Gateway – Gateways, XSLT, GatewayScript, runtime configuration.
  • IBM ACE / IIB – Message flows, ESQL, REST/SOAP nodes, MQ integration.
  • Strong understanding of SOA, REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, XSD, WSDL.
  • Programming skills: JavaScript/GatewayScript, XSLT, ESQL.
  • Experience with IBM MQ, Kafka, JDBC integration.

 

 

Soft Skills

 

  • Strong analytical and debugging capabilities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.

 

 

Nice-to-Have

 

  • Knowledge of IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure integration services.
  • Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
  • API security best practices & industry standards.
  • Experience in MuleSoft is a plus.
