Platform Engineering Architect
The opportunity
Your role will be an Architect in the Cloud Engineering team. You will be responsible to be a part of the delivery. We are looking for an Azure-focused Platform Engineering Architect to lead DevOps, cloud automation and internal developer platform initiatives. The role will drive architecture, delivery and governance for cloud-native platforms, CI/CD, IaC, Kubernetes and self-service engineering capabilities across customer engagements.
Your key responsibilities
- Design, assess and implement DevOps and Platform Engineering solutions with Azure as the primary cloud platform.
- Provide architecture leadership for end-to-end CI/CD, GitOps, IaC and release automation across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Design Azure landing zone, networking, IAM, security, observability, resiliency and deployment patterns; AWS/GCP exposure is good to have.
- Build reusable Terraform modules, pipeline-based provisioning workflows, golden paths and platform templates.
- Build and maintain Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) using Backstage or similar platform engineering solutions.
- Deploy and operate production-grade Kubernetes platforms, preferably Azure AKS; EKS/GKE exposure is an added advantage.
- Integrate developer self-service capabilities through IDP / Backstage-style platforms, service catalogs, templates and automation workflows.
- Implement DevSecOps quality gates and security scanning across CI/CD pipelines using tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, Veracode, Wiz or equivalent.
- Design monitoring, logging and observability using Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Splunk/Datadog or equivalent tools.
- Drive release governance including environment planning, deployment coordination, rollback strategy, change approvals and production readiness.
- Mentor engineering teams and support architecture reviews, tool evaluations, delivery planning, RFP/POV/POC support and client presentations.
Required Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Cloud, DevOps, Platform Engineering and transformation programs.
- Strong hands-on experience in Azure architecture and services with practical understanding of cloud security, networking, IAM, compute, storage and observability.
- Good-to-have working knowledge of AWS and/or GCP architecture and DevOps services.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CloudBees, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or Harness.
- Experience in design, build and support for implementation of Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) using Backstage or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Azure Bicep, including modular design, remote state, approvals, quality gates and pipeline integration.
- Advanced Docker and Kubernetes experience, preferably Azure AKS, including Helm, ingress, RBAC, secrets, autoscaling, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Experience implementing GitOps using Argo CD or Flux CD.
- Experience with release management, change governance, deployment runbooks, release reporting and post-release validation.
- Scripting and automation experience using Python, Shell/Bash, PowerShell or Groovy.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, workshop facilitation and architecture documentation skills.
- Internal Developer Portal / Backstage concepts: software catalog, templates, onboarding workflows and developer self-service.
- Golden paths, reusable platform patterns, CI/CD blueprints, IaC modules and engineering guardrails.
- Policy-as-code, DevSecOps controls, compliance automation and vulnerability management.
- Operational excellence through observability, SRE practices, resilience, toil reduction and automation.
Mandatory Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
- AWS / Google Cloud certifications are good to have.

- Experience in designing and implementing log monitoring
- Knowledge in helm chart package management and Istio service mesh.
- Setting up DevOps dashboards using tools like AWS Cloud watch, Hygiea, Grafana and Kibana.

- Lead by example and mentor DevOps / Platform Engineering teams.
- Participate in capability building, reusable asset creation and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders, onsite/offshore teams and leadership to ensure quality delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to travel as per client and role requirements.
