We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of modern cloud-native data platforms and analytics solutions on AWS. In this role, you will be responsible for defining scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures that enable organizations to unlock business value from their data assets. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, application teams, data scientists, and enterprise architects to deliver end-to-end data solutions that support analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and Generative AI initiatives.

Your key responsibilities

 

Data Architecture & Solution Design

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-native data architectures on AWS aligned with business and enterprise objectives.
  • Define solution architectures, architecture patterns, and best practices for Data Lakes, Lakehouse platforms, Data Warehouses, and Real-Time Data Processing solutions.
  • Produce architecture blueprints, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps for data modernization and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise security, governance, compliance, reliability, and cost optimization standards.

 

AWS Data Platform Implementation

  • Architect and guide the implementation of AWS-based data solutions leveraging services such as Amazon S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, Lambda, Lake Formation, Kinesis, and IAM.
  • Lead the design of batch, streaming, and real-time data processing pipelines supporting analytics, reporting, and business intelligence requirements.
  • Establish observability, monitoring, and data quality frameworks to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Support performance tuning, scalability improvements, and optimization of enterprise data platforms.

 

Data Governance & Information Management

  • Define and implement data modeling standards, metadata management, data governance, and data lifecycle strategies.
  • Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote best practices around data quality, lineage, stewardship, and master data management.

 

AI, Analytics & GenAI Enablement

  • Design modern data architectures that support analytics, machine learning, and Generative AI use cases.
  • Build data foundations for Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, semantic search, and AI-powered applications.
  • Leverage AWS AI services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, Textract, and Comprehend to deliver intelligent data solutions.
  • Partner with data scientists and analytics teams to operationalize AI and GenAI capabilities at scale.

 

Stakeholder Management & Technical Leadership

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, and technical discussions with clients and internal teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to data engineers and development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support solutioning, estimation, proposal development, and technical reviews for new opportunities.

 

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • 4 - 7+ years of overall IT experience, including 3+ years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, and Cloud Architecture, with a proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native data platforms on AWS.
  • Strong expertise in AWS Data & Analytics services including S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, Lambda, Lake Formation, Kinesis, and IAM, with hands-on experience architecting and implementing enterprise-grade data solutions.
  • Extensive experience designing and delivering Data Lakes, Lakehouse Architectures, Data Warehouses, and Real-Time Data Platforms, along with a strong understanding of data modeling, governance, security, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage.
  • Proven ability to define solution architectures, architecture artifacts, reference designs, and technical roadmaps, while guiding engineering teams and ensuring alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework and enterprise standards.
  • Experience in cloud migration, modernization, and data transformation initiatives, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and delivery teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML and Generative AI-enabled data platforms, including LLMs, RAG, vector databases, semantic search, and AI-powered analytics solutions, leveraging services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, Textract, and Comprehend, complemented by strong communication, stakeholder management, consulting, and technical leadership skills.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and AWS Certified Data Analytics/Data Engineer are highly desirable.
  • Experience with modern data platform technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, DBT, and Matillion will be advantageous
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

 

 

Education:

 

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
