The opportunity
We’re seeking a hands on Senior BI & Automation Engineer operating at Assistant Director level to build reliable analytics, automations, and scalable data solutions that empower decision making across our technology and business functions. You’ll lead end to end delivery—data ingestion, data engineering, BI modeling, automation orchestration, and issue resolution—while demonstrating executive presence, strong relationship building, and a forward thinking mindset.
As an Assistant Director, success in this role requires not only technical excellence but also the ability to lead with authenticity, empower others, and cultivate a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe culture.
You will partner closely with product, operations, finance, and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into high quality BI and automation solutions that enhance business outcomes and operational excellence.
Your key responsibilities
Automation & AI
- Build and refine Power Automate flows, SharePoint integrations, and end-to-end automation solutions.
- Develop Copilot Studio / Power Automate Agent workflows, including shared mailbox scenarios, prompt logic, and exception handling.
BI & Data Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and paginated reports, ensuring high-performing and accurate refreshes.
- Develop and optimize Azure Data Factory pipelines, Azure SQL/Synapse objects (staging, transformations, data quality, monitoring).
- Implement robust logging, alerting, and automation for data pipelines, ensuring reliability across environments.
Operational excellence & issue resolution
- Proactively troubleshoot refresh failures, schema drift, permissions issues, gateway/service-account problems, and data inconsistencies.
- Partner with Infra/SecOps to resolve firewall, IR, credential, and access challenges.
Stakeholder engagement & delivery
- Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI and automation solutions.
- Communicate status, risks, insights, and decisions with clarity and executive presence.
- Support UAT cycles, stakeholder demos, and production go lives with quality and attention to detail.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have
- 5–8+ years of experience in BI/Data Engineering roles.
- Strong hands on expertise in Power BI (DAX, semantic modeling, RLS, Performance optimization) and paginated reporting (Report Builder), along with CI/CD for BI/data assets
- Strong Azure data engineering experience: Azure Data Factory plus Azure SQL/Synapse (Databricks desirable)
- Advanced SQL skills including design and optimisation of database objects (tables/views/procs/functions), parameterised/dynamic SQL, indexing and performance tuning.
- Proven Power Automate delivery experience, SharePoint content automation, and enterprise service-account patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues across data, infrastructure, and access layers.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Bonus: Microsoft Fabric, Python, Azure DevOps/Git, OLS/RLS governance, Copilot Studio prompt design.

- Programming Languages – .Net, HTML5, Java, PowerShell, Python, R, Ruby, Shell Scripting, SQL, Visual Studio, XML
- Relational SMP Databases – Azure SQL PaaS, IBM DB2, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server
