Business Manager (Business Management Office)
Function
Business Management Lead (Enterprise Technology – CBS, MST, I&O). Each functional team reports to the overall ET Business Management Lead, who reports into the Enablement Business Office Lead.
Key Responsibilities
The Business Manager works in a team reporting into the Lead Business Manager for one of the Enterprise Technology functions and is responsible for business management of their respective function. The role supports effective financial management across the area and is assigned to a specific Enterprise Technology leader (typically Director level).
Scope of activities includes:
- Financial management
- Resource management
- Vendor support
- Product management support
- General business operations
Detailed Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with service owners, project managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders
- Partner with ET teams to understand portfolios, products, and business strategy
- Ensure compliance with finance, resourcing, Source‑to‑Pay, supplier management, and delivery processes
- Prepare accurate financial plans and forecasts aligned to the financial calendar
- Analyse capital and purchased services spending
- Identify risks and opportunities
- Oversee FY planning and forecasting
- Monitor actuals vs forecast at function, portfolio, and project levels
- Ensure sound financial management and recommend corrective actions
- Embed best practices across project, financial, and resource management
- Drive innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
- Support special projects as required
People Management
- Supervise BM Analysts or Junior BMs as required
- Support selection, performance management, coaching, and development
- Provide feedback and mentoring
- Support team capability building
Skills and Attributes
- Strong organisational and process management skills
- Ability to work under pressure with fixed deadlines
- Experience in global, multicultural environments
- Strong stakeholder communication and influencing skills
- Client‑service mindset with strong analytical and presentation skills
- High standards of confidentiality and problem‑solving
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Extensive Excel expertise (formulas, pivot tables, lookup and financial functions)
- Excellent written and spoken English
Additional Knowledge
- Knowledge of EY tools (PPM, Apptio) is an advantage
- Interest in technology‑driven service organisations
Problem Solving
The role requires the ability to identify issues in forecasting and financial narratives, challenge assumptions constructively with Directors/Associate Directors, and escalate where necessary.
