Job Title: Broadcast Engineer

Function: Brand, Marketing & Communications – Corporate Studio

 

Role Overview

The Broadcast Engineer is the technical backbone of the corporate studio, responsible for ensuring seamless recording, streaming, live casting, and production workflows. This role manages all studio equipment—cameras, switchers, lighting systems, audio chains, chroma setups, encoders—and ensures reliability, broadcast-grade quality, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in both live and recorded production, has strong problem-solving capabilities, and thrives in a fast-paced environment that mirrors a professional newsroom setup.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Studio Operations & Technical Management
    • Operate, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment including:
      • Video switchers (ATEM/Tricaster/Equivalent)
      • PTZ or cinema cameras
      • Lighting grids & DMX controllers
      • Audio mixers and microphones
      • Teleprompters
      • Monitors & signal routing systems
    • Manage chroma keying pipelines for large and small green screen zones.
    • Ensure all studio zones (news desk, chroma, interview set) are pre-lit, tested, and production-ready.

 

  • Live Streaming, Recording & Transmission
    • Set up and manage:
      • Multi-camera switching
      • Live streaming to platforms (YouTube, Teams, Zoom, Vimeo, corporate broadcast platforms)
      • Encoding and compression workflows
    • Run full end-to-end live events including townhalls, leadership broadcasts, panels, and webcasts.
    • Implement redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms during critical live sessions.

 

  • Audio Engineering & Signal Quality
    • Manage audio capture, mixing, monitoring, and processing.
    • Maintain pristine sound quality for voiceovers, interviews, and broadcasts.
    • Troubleshoot audio delays, echo, interference, and signal loss.

 

  • Maintenance & Quality Control
    • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve technical issues quickly.
    • Ensure optimal performance of:
      • Routers, encoders, UPS systems
      • Network and storage devices
      • SDI/HDMI cabling & signal flow
    • Perform regular preventive maintenance, calibration, and firmware updates.
    • Maintain equipment logs and incident reports.

 

  • Workflow Optimization & Collaboration
    • Work closely with:
      • Cinematographer
      • Editor
      • Art Director
      • Content Team
    • Set up efficient workflows for recording → ingest → editing → publishing.
    • Support shoots involving external speakers, VIPs, and leadership teams.
    • Train internal teams on equipment usage when required.

 

  • Safety, Compliance & Documentation
    • Manage cable safety, rigging guidelines, equipment storage.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate broadcast and IT protocols.
    • Document setups, routing maps, presets, equipment checklists, and SOPs.

 

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • 4–7 years of experience in broadcast engineering or studio operations.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Video codecs, frame rates, formats
    • SDI, NDI, HDMI signal flows
    • Audio signal chains, gain staging
    • Lighting for video (3-point, soft key, chroma lighting)
  • Experience with:
    • ATEM / TriCaster / Ross Video / vMix
    • PTZ control systems
    • Dante audio (preferred)
    • OBS or live production platforms
    • Knowledge of virtual sets and chroma key systems.
  • Behavioral Skills
    • Calm under pressure—especially during live sessions.
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication with creative and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to multitask across simultaneous production requests.
  • Education
    • Degree/diploma in Broadcast Engineering, Mass Communication, Audio/Video Production, Electronics, or related field.

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in corporate communications or newsroom-style environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted production tools.
  • Understanding of color grading or basic editing.
  • Knowledge of studio acoustics and soundproofing.
