An exciting opportunity to work in EY’s Business Tax Advisory – Quantitative Services (“QS”) team specialized in Capitalization and Fixed Assets practice. You will support Ernst & Young’s National Tax Department (NTD) which serves high-profile, national and multinational clients and is led by nationally recognized tax professionals who represent some of the firm’s most senior tax talent. We provide a range of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services.  The combination of knowledge and experience forms the basis for National Tax's ability to assist clients in determining and implementing appropriate tax planning.

The opportunity

We currently have a career opportunity for a Staff professional in our Capitalization and Fixed Assets practice.  Our highly skilled professionals have a diversity of experiences, skills and insights in capitalization and cost recovery methodologies through a rigorous analysis of fixed assets of our clients. As a member of the QS-Cap team, you will work closely with engagement teams in the United States and the local team on a variety of clients, including some of the largest global corporations and transactions.

Your key responsibilities

 

In this role, you will be performing detailed analysis of fixed assets starting from scoping for opportunities, preparing population, performing in-depth analysis for samples extracted. The technical areas include Qualified Improvement Property (QIP), Reclass lives, Repairs and Maintenance (TPR) and Capitalization. In addition, you will be preparing the accounting method changes 3115 forms and statements for multiple clients. This is an entry level position and, on the training, will be provided for specific tax related topics and industry level fixed assets.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have

 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting and finance,
  • Ability to read and understand payment applications, fixed asset report, identify qualified assets, construction agreement, invoice (including civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines),
  • Experience/knowledge of accounting methods and fixed assets used in various industries, real estates and commercial buildings
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access,
  • Additional accounting related certifications is a plus, and
  • A combination of engineering and accounting background will be an additional value to this profile (B.E., MBA (Finance and accounting)).

 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Strong time management and task management skills and working with different engagement teams
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple concurrent engagement timelines and stakeholders
  • Ability to lead conversations with proper communication skills, and to be flexible.
