The Opportunity

Role Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Banking Solution Architect at the Senior Manager level to lead the architecture, design and implementation of enterprise banking solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in Temenos platforms, including T24, Transact and WealthSuite; Finacle platforms, including Core Banking, DEH, CDH and Alerts; or new-generation banking platforms such as Backbase, Mambu and Thought Machine.

The Senior Manager will provide architecture leadership across complex core banking modernisation, migration and digital transformation programmes. The role requires strong banking domain knowledge, extensive technical and solution architecture expertise, and the ability to engage senior stakeholders across business, technology and operations functions.

The successful candidate will define scalable solution architectures, provide strategic technology direction, lead client workshops and solution walkthroughs, govern delivery outcomes, and develop architecture capabilities across teams. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Leadership
    • Lead the definition, validation and governance of enterprise solution architectures for core banking transformation, modernisation and migration programmes.
    • Develop target-state architecture, transition architecture, solution blueprints and implementation roadmaps aligned with client business objectives.
    • Provide architectural leadership for digital-first banking journeys across retail, corporate, private banking and wealth management.
    • Evaluate business and technology requirements and translate them into scalable, secure and resilient banking solutions.
    • Ensure solution designs align with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards, regulatory expectations and established governance frameworks.
    • Lead architecture reviews and provide recommendations on platform selection, integration patterns, deployment models and implementation approaches.
    • Own key architecture decisions and maintain decision logs, design principles, standards and reusable architecture assets.
  • Banking Platform Leadership
    • Provide subject-matter expertise across one or more of the following platform groups:
      • Temenos: T24, Transact, TAP, TDS, TCIB, Infinity, WealthSuite and Journey Manager.
      • Finacle: Core Banking, DEH, CDH, Alerts, Origination, FEBA, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking.
      • New-Generation Banking Platforms: Backbase, Mambu and Thought Machine.
    • Define platform architecture covering product configuration, customisation, integration, data migration, security and operational readiness.
    • Guide core banking implementation, upgrade, migration and modernisation programmes.
    • Assess platform capabilities against business requirements and recommend appropriate configuration, extension or integration approaches.
    • Provide architectural oversight for Finacle customisation across relevant versions, including scripting, hooks and deployment frameworks.
    • Support the development of platform roadmaps that enable modularity, interoperability, cloud adoption and improved customer experience.
  • Integration and API Architecture
    • Design integration architectures using microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, middleware and messaging platforms.
    • Define API orchestration strategies using technologies and standards such as Kafka, Apigee, YAML, REST and SOAP.
    • Establish integration patterns for connecting core banking platforms with digital channels, payments, customer information systems, data platforms, risk systems and third-party services.
    • Define principles for service decomposition, event management, exception handling, resiliency, observability and interface security.
    • Guide teams in selecting appropriate synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
    • Ensure APIs and integration components comply with enterprise security, performance, scalability and governance requirements.
  • Cloud, DevOps and Engineering Governance
    • Define cloud-enabled and container-based architecture using platforms and technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
    • Provide guidance on CI/CD pipelines, environment strategies, release governance and deployment automation.
    • Ensure architecture supports availability, performance, scalability, maintainability, recoverability and operational resilience.
    • Work with engineering, infrastructure, security and operations teams to establish appropriate non-functional requirements.
    • Provide architectural oversight across the software development lifecycle while maintaining a strategic, non-coding leadership focus.
    • Drive the adoption of engineering standards, reusable components and architecture guardrails across delivery teams.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Engage with senior client stakeholders across business, operations, architecture, engineering, infrastructure, security and programme leadership.
    • Conduct discovery sessions, architecture workshops, requirement-gathering discussions and solution walkthroughs.
    • Translate complex technology concepts into clear business outcomes, options and recommendations.
    • Present architecture decisions, risks, dependencies, trade-offs and implementation considerations to senior governance forums.
    • Build trusted relationships with client executives, technology leaders, product vendors and ecosystem partners.
    • Support conflict resolution and consensus building across stakeholders with differing business and technology priorities.
  • Programme Delivery and Governance
    • Provide architecture leadership throughout discovery, design, build, testing, migration, implementation and post-production stabilisation.
    • Partner with programme and delivery leadership to establish realistic roadmaps, milestones, dependencies and resource requirements.
    • Identify architecture-related risks and issues and drive timely mitigation and resolution.
    • Govern adherence to approved architecture, design principles, non-functional requirements and technology standards.
    • Review project deliverables, solution designs, interface specifications and implementation approaches.
    • Support design assurance, implementation readiness and production-go-live governance.
    • Ensure effective coordination between platform teams, engineering teams, testing teams, vendors and client stakeholders.
  • Data, Security and Regulatory Alignment
    • Define architecture considerations for banking data, including data integration, migration, lineage, quality, reconciliation and reporting.
    • Ensure solutions support appropriate authentication, authorisation, encryption, tokenisation and multi-factor authentication controls.
    • Collaborate with risk, compliance, cybersecurity and financial crime teams to align solutions with applicable banking control requirements.
    • Incorporate AML, fraud-monitoring and transaction-monitoring integration considerations into solution designs where relevant.
    • Ensure security, privacy and regulatory requirements are considered throughout the architecture and delivery lifecycle.
    • Guide teams in addressing technical debt, security vulnerabilities and architecture deviations.
  • People Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead and mentor solution architects, technical architects, consultants and engineering leads.
    • Allocate resources, assign responsibilities and ensure that teams have the necessary tools, guidance and support to succeed.
    • Establish clear objectives and provide timely coaching, feedback and professional development support.
    • Build architecture capability through structured mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions, training and reusable assets.
    • Support talent identification, hiring, onboarding, performance management and succession planning.
    • Promote collaboration, accountability, inclusion and continuous learning across geographically distributed teams.
    • Optimise team structures and delivery processes to achieve programme and organisational objectives.
  • Practice Development and Business Growth
    • Contribute to the growth of EY’s Banking and Capital Markets technology consulting capabilities.
    • Support proposals, client presentations, solution demonstrations, estimations and responses to requests for proposals.
    • Develop architecture offerings, thought leadership, reference architectures, reusable frameworks and accelerators.
    • Identify opportunities to extend client engagements and develop new banking transformation propositions.
    • Collaborate with account leadership, alliance partners and platform vendors to shape market opportunities.
    • Contribute to internal communities of practice and strengthen organisational capabilities across banking platforms and architecture.
