Partner – EY GDS - Japan Integration & Transformation Leader (Bilingual Japanese-English)

 

Objective and Purpose

To lead the strategic integration of EY GDS with EY Japan Member Firm, driving seamless collaboration, market growth, and delivery excellence for large, complex transformation programs for Japanese clients. This role combines business consulting expertise, PMO leadership, and bicultural fluency to ensure successful integration of GDS consulting with EY Japan Member firm and driving seamless delivery of Japanese client engagements from GDS locations

 

Scope of the Position

Act as the primary integration leader for Japan, ensuring GDS Consulting capabilities are embedded across all deal stages. Drive business transformation and technology-enabled transformations (SAP S/4HANA and other ERP platforms) and manage governance for successful delivery of projects for Japanese clients. Serve as a cultural bridge between Japanese and EY GDS teams, fostering trust, collaboration, and alignment with local norms.

 

Essential Functions

  • Strategic Integration & Market Growth: Develop and execute strategies to leverage GDS capabilities for Japan market expansion. Streamline workflows and adopt best practices for cohesive service delivery. Build GDS pipeline for Japan region engagements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with Japan leadership, clients. Drive early involvement of GDS in client engagement. Facilitate leadership and client visits to drive awareness and adoption of GDS capabilities.
  • Delivery Leadership: Oversee PMO for large-scale transformation projects (Tech Platforms, Agile frameworks). Ensure zero-surprise delivery through robust governance and risk management.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop bilingual teams to support Japan integration and transformation initiatives.

 

Analytical and Decision-Making Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex business and cultural dynamics to craft integration strategies.
  • Strong judgment in balancing global delivery models with local cultural expectations.
  • Data-driven approach to performance tracking and risk mitigation.

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native Japanese (JLPT N1 preferred; N2 minimum). Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of Japanese business etiquette and decision-making norms. Ability to navigate cross-cultural communication with sensitivity and respect.
  • Business Consulting & PMO Expertise: Proven experience in managing large-scale transformation programs. Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and global delivery frameworks ( Agile).
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead multicultural teams. Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

 

Knowledge Required Beyond the Job

  • Awareness of global trends in technology transformation and digital innovation.
  • Familiarity with GCC (Global Capability Centers) and shared services operating models.

 

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or Japanese Language Studies. MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 20+ years in Consulting, PMO leadership, or technology transformation roles.
  • Proven track record of working in cross-cultural environments and managing senior client relationships.
  • Experience in SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP transformation programs is highly desirable.
