EY- Assurance – Senior – EBP - Transactional and Technical Topics (“T3”)

About T3 - The Assurance Transactional and Technical Topics (“T3”) group encompasses the centralization of EY audit efforts in complex audit areas to a specialized team of professionals who work closely with internal engagement teams to assess risk, plan, and execute, and evidence work using a structured approach and standardized documentation.

As an Assurance Senior – EBP, you will be a key member of the EY GDS Assurance team, working on Employee Benefit Plan audits for U.S. clients. You will be responsible for leading teams, performing high-quality audit procedures, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and ERISA regulations. This is a specialized and high-growth area within EY, offering rich exposure and learning.

 

The opportunity

We’re looking for individual for Transactions and Technical topics (T3 team) who should be a qualified accountant with strong technical skills. The incumbent gets an excellent opportunity to work directly with the engagement teams across Americas. The incumbent is expected to display strong technical knowledge in US GAAP.


Your key responsibilities

  • Lead Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audit engagements across defined contribution, defined benefit, and health & welfare plans.
  • Lead engagements from the GDS front and ensure the team delivers timely and high-quality work, as per EY GAM and in line with the Global team expectations. 
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of GAM while performing reviews of procedures performed by GDS staff, along with knowledge of EY tools to make reviews more efficient and meaningful.
  • Train, mentor, and coach junior team members on EBP-specific audit processes.
  • Develop an understanding of EY Quality and Risk Management procedures, and ensure these are embedded into the engagement team’s work.
  • Proactively discuss workflow management with the assurance teams and monitoring performance against standards. Monitor utilization for one’s team, budget to actuals, and other operational matters.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, competence and clarity of communication when dealing with GDS and Global teams.
  • Establish expectations of value to be delivered to the respective GDS Global teams aligned.
  • Be responsible for various operational matters related to engagements aligned.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. 


Skills and attributes for success

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and ERISA requirements related to benefit plans.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • 2–4 years of external audit experience, with at least 1–2 years in U.S. EBP audits.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and ERISA requirements.
  • Experience with U.S. clients and workpapers/audit tools like EY Canvas is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Big 4 or top-tier public accounting firms.
  • Familiarity with EBP-specific regulations and plan structures.
