EY Job Description
Job Title:
Agentic Orchestration Lead
EY Technology | CBS Technology | Intelligent Automation - Reports to (Job Title):
AI Engineering Lead
Job Summary:
The Agentic Orchestration Lead will design, build, and operationalize the orchestration layer that enables enterprise-scale multi-agent systems. This role is critical to realizing the firm’s agentic AI aspiration, ensuring agents can collaborate, delegate, reason, and act reliably across complex workflows while meeting enterprise standards for security, governance, observability, and lifecycle management.
Essential Functions of the Job:
. Orchestration Architecture & Patterns
-
- Define and implement orchestration patterns for agentic systems, including:
- Planner–executor, supervisor–worker, hierarchical and swarm-based agent models
- Stateful vs stateless orchestration, synchronous vs event-driven flows
- Design orchestration layers that manage agent sequencing, routing, retries, and failover in multi-step workflows.
Agent-to-Agent Interoperability
- Build frameworks enabling agent-to-agent communication, collaboration, and task delegation across heterogeneous agents.
- Define common interaction contracts (schemas, metadata, reasoning traces, tool invocation protocols).
- Enable cross-agent context passing, memory sharing, and coordination without tight coupling.
SDKs & Frameworks for Orchestration
- Hands-on experience with leading orchestration SDKs, such as:
- Microsoft Semantic Kernel and similar agent orchestration
- Azure AI Foundry / agent SDKs where relevant to orchestration flows
- Evaluate, extend, or build custom orchestration frameworks where off-the-shelf abstractions fall short.
Off-the-Shelf Orchestrators & Platforms
- Assess and integrate enterprise orchestration platforms (e.g., Moveworks, comparable agentic automation platforms) where appropriate.
- Define clear build vs buy decision criteria for orchestrators based on complexity, governance, extensibility, and cost.
MCP & Tooling Integration
- Integrate orchestrators with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, tool registries, and enterprise APIs.
- Standardize how agents discover, invoke, and chain tools via MCP or equivalent mechanisms.
Runtime Governance, Observability & Safety
- Embed runtime controls into orchestration:
- Guardrails, policy enforcement, approval checkpoints, and human-in-the-loop patterns
- Implement observability across agent workflows:
- Tracing, step-level logging, reasoning capture, latency and cost metrics
- Align orchestration with enterprise governance and lifecycle controls.
Leadership & Enablement
- Act as the technical authority for agentic orchestration.
- Coach engineers and architects on orchestration-first agent design.
- Partner with AI governance, security, platform, and business leads.
- Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Core Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of agentic architectures and orchestration patterns.
- Strong hands-on experience building multi-agent workflows end to end.
- Proven experience with orchestration SDKs (Semantic Kernel or equivalent)
- Experience integrating off-the-shelf agentic platforms (e.g., Moveworks or peer tools).
Integration & Platform Engineering
- API-first design mindset; experience orchestrating across microservices and tools.
- Familiarity with MCP servers, tool calling protocols, and agent tool registries.
- Experience with event-driven and async orchestration patterns.
Enterprise Readiness
- Strong appreciation of governance, security, and compliance in AI systems.
- Ability to design orchestration that scales across teams, domains, and use cases.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and shaping standards where none exist.
Job Requirements:
Education:
A degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 10+ years in a Global IT environment working with multiple disciplines to deliver projects in line with customer needs
- 3+ Years Global delivery or transformation preferably in large scale infrastructure programs
- 3+ Years in a global operations environment
Certification Requirements:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI 102)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ 305)
- Enterprise architecture or distributed systems certifications (e.g., TOGAF).
