The Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) function has an important role to play in helping to achieve EY’s ambition to create long-term value as the world’s most trusted, distinctive professional services organization. Through the collective power of BMC, and the other teams and specialists we work with, we aim to build a better working world by driving commercial value through distinctive marketing and communications that deliver measurable market impact. 

BMC is led globally by Karen Hopkins. The function comprises over 2,000 professionals, working across the Global Executive and Regions in: Brand; Marketing; PR/Media Relations & External Communications; Internal Communications & Employee Engagement; Corporate communications. BMC also includes a number of teams who are responsible for digital channels, content development, editorial, webcasts, events-staging, strategy, planning and operations.

As part of the drive to strengthen cross-border collaboration and better serve EY clients, EY has brought together three existing regions to form a new, enlarged Europe West Region. In line with the firm’s global strategy, one of the region’s key business priorities is to elevate sectors in how it goes to market, ensuring it brings the whole of EY to clients.  

In this context, we are building a team of commercial, strategic and experienced marketing individuals - each focused on one of the region’s seven priority sectors - to drive distinctive regional sector issue-based and buyer-centric go to market programs to build our brand, help deepen and broaden client relationships and generate demand to drive profitable growth.  

The Consumer and TMT (Technology, Media & Telecommunications) Sectors BMC Leader is a key role in the Europe West Integrated Go-to-Market (iGTM) team, reporting to the region iGTM Director.  You will help shape the sector regional go to market strategy, decide where and how marketing can have the most impact to support the sector business objectives, develop client-centric brand to demand programs that bring together the best of EY in a coherent and compelling way and lead the activation of these programs regionally. You will also be involved in driving cross-sectors programs aimed at the top regional accounts.  

You will collaborate with the relevant Europe West Consumer Sector Business Leader and Board, the Europe West BD Leader, the country BMC teams as well as the relevant Global Consumer Sector BMC Leader. You will also play a leadership role as a member of the regional BMC team in creating a best-in-class BMC function. 

 

Your key responsibilities 

The Consumer and TMT Sectors BMC Leader is accountable for: 

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the regional Sector Leader to actively make choices and prioritise BMC resources and budget in alignment with the sector growth strategy. 

  • Agreeing with the regional Sector Leader and Board the marketing priorities and related plan to deliver on the sector business objectives and growth ambition. 

  • Influencing and shaping global sector programs to ensure they are fit for purpose for the region, as part of the global Sector BMC extended core team. 

  • Creating a robust business case for each sector initiative - based on the market assessment, client needs and lifecycle, business objectives and readiness - and getting the buy-in from relevant stakeholders. 

  • Leading the regional development and activation of issue-based sector programs with a focus on delivering specific outcomes in terms of our brand, buyer & influencer relationships and demand generation.  

  • Identifying how best to bring together the best EY and its ecosystem has to offer to address specific buyers’ issues and needs in the sector and deliver a compelling and coherent approach to the market. 

  • Identifying and working with relevant external third parties to enhance the value of the sector programs in the region. 

  • Collaborating with the regional Brand, Growth Drivers, Market Activation and BD teams as well as BMC country teams to deliver regional sector programs effectively. 

  • Working closely with a few sector client teams to ensure that the sector programs are relevant for both the account teams and clients. 

  • Reporting on program performance, including return on investment, and reviewing insights from data and analytics to drive continuous improvement and better results. 

  • Driving innovation and change across the organization. 

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on BMC issues, trends and long-term implications to enrich EY’s GTM approach. 

Travel within the Region will be an important requirement. Travel within the Area and globally will be less frequent but may be required depending on business needs.

  • Be a point of integration; connect all facets of the business when initiating, developing and implementing marketing and communications projects; drive knowledge sharing throughout Europe West Sector and BMC; synthesize information from others; help the business address its big issues, serve as an organizational connector. 

  • Bring exceptional technical marketing knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge in the design and delivery of successful, integrated campaigns. 

  • Ability to execute with an innovative, pragmatic and outcomes focused mindset.

What makes you stand out - attributes of your success  

  • Experience in a cross-border role, building and managing diverse teams and delivering successfully across cultures and markets. 

  • 15 years of marketing experience within a global organization delivering integrated campaigns across the full client lifecycle. 

  • Experience delivering integrated marketing programs with proven and demonstrable results. 

  • Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders. 

  • Experience of working effectively in a cross-cultural environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences, including with virtual high-performing teams. 

  • Prior experience in delivering exceptional results in a multinational firm with complex matrix structures and global reporting relationships, balancing local market needs with global strategy. 

  • Experience in B2B environment where brand and business are built from the inside out, with substantial experience in either professional services, financial services or technology sectors.  

  • Strong expertise and knowledge of the full spectrum of marketing disciplines with particular emphasis on digital capabilities.  

  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as this role will involve daily interaction with people in multiple countries.  

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent area of study) 

  • Fluency in English 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have  

  • Experience and understanding of the sector 

  • Fluency in one or more of the languages represented in Europe West 

  • High degree of numeracy with experience demonstrating ROI on marketing programs 

  • Experience of working closely with Business Development to create demand and generate sales pipeline opportunities that drive business growth 

  • Client-centricity and a solid understanding of account planning and account-based marketing
