We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Payroll Consultant with deep New Zealand payroll expertise and strong hands‑on delivery experience in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
The role requires a senior practitioner who has personally delivered multiple end‑to‑end payroll implementations, can work independently, and is comfortable being hands‑on across design, configuration, testing, cutover, and go‑live support.This is a delivery‑focused role, not advisory only.
This role can be performed from any of our EY offices across Aotearoa]. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Ko Tō Rourou |Your key responsibilities
- Deliver end‑to‑end New Zealand payroll implementations in SAP SuccessFactors ECP, including hands‑on configuration, go‑live, and hypercare support.
- Lead payroll functional design, translating business and legislative requirements into compliant system configuration and payroll processing logic.
- Act as the SME for New Zealand payroll compliance, covering PAYE and IRD payday filing, KiwiSaver, leave and entitlements, terminations, and off‑cycle payrolls.
- Lead payroll testing, cutover, and go‑live activities, including SIT, parallel runs, UAT, data validation, and reconciliation.
- Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, and technical teams to support delivery, EC to ECP integration, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
Ngā Pūkenga |Skills and attributes for success
- 10+ years’ hands‑on New Zealand payroll experience, including multiple end‑to‑end implementations and complex payroll transformation programmes.
- Proven SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) delivery experience, with strong hands‑on configuration capability across at least two ECP implementations.
- Deep expertise in New Zealand payroll legislation, compliance, EC to ECP integration, and end‑to‑end payroll processing, testing, and cutover.
- Strong consulting practitioner with excellent problem‑solving skills, able to work independently, own delivery, and communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience across ANZ payroll environments, with exposure to different legislative and operational requirements.
- Exposure to payroll optimisation or post‑implementation stabilisation, including issue resolution and process improvement.
- SAP SuccessFactors and/or SAP HCM certifications
