We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – Payroll to lead the delivery of payroll-focused technology initiatives, ensuring alignment to business objectives and successful outcomes. This role is accountable for end-to-end project delivery, including planning, governance, execution and risk management across payroll and related system implementations, working closely with stakeholders and project teams within complex, technology-enabled environments.

 

This role can be performed from any of our EY offices across Aotearoa. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options. 

 

Ko Tō Rourou |Your key responsibilities

 

As our Project Manager – Payroll, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of payroll-related technology projects. You will:

 

  • Manage technology and payroll projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines and budgets, monitoring progress against agreed milestones
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, requirements and deliverables
  • Identify, track and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring timely resolution
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across project teams and stakeholders
  • Provide regular project updates, status reports and insights to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ensure delivery adheres to EY project management methodologies and best practice standards

 

Ngā Pūkenga |Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects using Agile, Scrum and Kanban methodologies
  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps and MS Project
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience delivering payroll projects or payroll-related system implementations
  • High-level understanding of IT systems, including platforms such as SAP / ERP solutions, Microsoft technologies, ServiceNow and Salesforce / CRM

 

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

 

  • Experience working on SAP or similar ERP implementations, ideally within a payroll context
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, including AI and data-driven solutions
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 or Certified ScrumMaster are highly regarded
