The New Zealand Market Business Development Leader and Client Executive plays a pivotal role in driving growth for EY by building senior client relationships, understanding their most pressing challenges, and connecting them to the full strength of EY’s capabilities.

 

Focused on both major existing New Zealand accounts and securing new prospects, this  role is 80% client‑facing—hunting large deals, leading account strategy, expanding relationships, shaping opportunity pipelines, and championing EY’s presence across the NZ market.

 

You will also provide sales leadership nationally and contribute to the firm’s broader market strategy and transformation agenda.

 

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

 

  • Sales leadership
     Partner with the NZ Country Managing Partner, Service Line Leaders and partners to lead sales activity across the NZ market. Work closely with leadership to shape market strategy and foster collaboration across New Zealand, Australia and EY’s global network.
  • Account strategy
      Set and execute account plans across multiple priority accounts. Develop deep senior‑level relationships and position EY as a trusted partner who anticipates needs and consistently creates new pathways for value.
  • Opportunity generation
      Spot client issues early, shape opportunities, and assemble the right EY expertise to solve them. Provide strategic guidance on pipeline development, revenue planning, deal strategy and negotiation.

  • Market Knowledge – Strong understanding of industry trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Communication Skills – Able to confidently engage, influence and advise senior stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building – Proven ability to cultivate trusted, long‑term client and internal relationships.
  • Sales Acumen – Demonstrated success in business development, including shaping value propositions and driving revenue.
  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to design long‑term account strategies aligned to EY’s All In Strategy and client priorities.
  • Business Development Experience – 10+ years selling complex services or solutions to senior executives, ideally in professional services.
  • Commercial Acumen – Strong portfolio management capability with a clear understanding of client value drivers.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn. 

 

  • Advanced influencing and client management skills
  • A strong external network across major NZ clients
  • Familiarity with EY’s ecosystem of alliance partners (e.g., SAP, Microsoft, ServiceNow)
  • Flexibility for crosstime‑zone work and travel between key
