Hei Oranga Iwi | The opportunity

Our Auckland R&D Tax and Government Incentives team continues to expand, and we are seeking a Consultant to join our practice. Given the technical nature of our work, this role is well suited to individuals with a background in science, technology, software or data, or engineering, combined with a strong interest in developing knowledge across a broad range of industries and disciplines.

You will join a high-performing, hands-on team that operates at pace and takes pride in delivering high-quality outcomes for clients. This is a collaborative environment where people take ownership of their work, support one another, and are committed to continuous improvement.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

In this role, you’ll support clients to access R&D incentives and optimise investment outcomes by combining technical expertise with analytical and consulting skills.

  • Prepare technical documentation and perform data analysis to support R&D tax credit claims and government funding applications across jurisdictions
  • Assist clients to plan tax positions, maximise capital allowances, and access non-dilutive funding for innovation and sustainability initiatives
  • Contribute to client engagements by conducting research, analysing findings, and developing insights to inform recommendations and deliverables

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

We’re looking for a motivated and analytically minded professional who can combine technical understanding with strong communication and relationship skills.

  • Technical and analytical expertise: Qualification in science, technology, software/data, or engineering, with exposure to R&D environments. Basic understanding of accounting and business concepts, and proficiency in tools such as Excel and emerging technologies (e.g. generative AI)
  • Research and communication: Ability to investigate complex technical and tax topics with limited guidance, and clearly communicate findings through structured writing and presentations
  • Collaboration and relationship building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and internal teams in a collaborative, client-focused environment

Ideally, you’ll also bring an understanding of communication techniques that support the clear articulation of complex concepts.
