We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel / Senior Manager in our Advice & Policy function in the General Counsel’s Office. This attorney will provide timely, informed, and actionable advice to firm leaders on live engagement issues as well as broader risks.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver strategic legal guidance that improves outcomes through proactive problem-solving and risk mitigation.
- Advise audit and other leaders on complex engagement issues, promoting integrity and compliance while enabling responsible risk-taking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and develop innovative solutions that address legal challenges and enhance decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and professional services firms more broadly, providing timely and relevant advice to stakeholders.
- Support the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in legal compliance and risk management.
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from a top law school; top of class preferred.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college; top of class preferred.
- 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience handling complex investigative and regulatory matters, preferably involving the SEC and PCAOB.
- Membership in good standing in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in the state where the resident EY office is located.
- Demonstrated ability to create, plan, and successfully execute projects; the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A background in audit or other professional services matters is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A self-starter mentality with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $210,900 to $406,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $253,100 to $461,400. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
