The opportunity
We are looking for a Microsoft Security Engineer with strong experience across the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Security ecosystem, focusing primarily on Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview.
Your key responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Defender solutions, including:
- Defender for Endpoint
- Defender for Office 365
- Defender for Identity
- Defender for Cloud
Implement and manage Microsoft Purview capabilities:
- Information Protection / Sensitivity Labeling
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) across Microsoft 365 workloads
Define and enforce security policies across:
- Exchange Online
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Microsoft Teams
Participate in security assessments, hardening activities, and compliance initiatives
Collaborate with IT, Cloud, and Identity teams to deliver end‑to‑end security solutions
Produce clear technical documentation for architecture, configurations, and security decisions
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Defender (Microsoft 365 Defender stack)
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ideally, you will also have:
Proven experience with:
- Microsoft Purview Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels)
- Microsoft Purview DLP
- Solid understanding of the Microsoft 365 security model
- Experience in security policy design and implementation
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) from a security perspective
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical security controls
- High‑level understanding of what Sentinel is, what it does, and when it is used is sufficient
- Considered a plus
- Microsoft certifications (e.g. SC‑200, SC‑300, SC‑400, MS‑500)
- Experience in hybrid (on‑prem & cloud) environments
