The opportunity
The Greek EY Strategy & Transactions Advisory Services (SaT) practice is the leader in Greece and South-Eastern Europe in professional financial advisory services market. Within SaT, our Security & Defence team sits at the heart of our Lead Advisory practice and deliver high quality advice to our global network of clients. Our experts conduct research and analysis of EU policies and regulations related to security and defence, while at the same time provides advice on mergers and acquisitions, access to new markets, partnerships and collaborations, innovation and modernisation of production lines as well as on financing advisory. for our local, regional, and global clients.
We have ambitious plans, and we are seeking a highly performing junior level professional, to join our team in either Athens, Thessaloniki or Patras office.
Working in a multi-national environment, the team works on a range of transactions, from local to cross border multinational disposals or acquisitions. Working in this creative environment, you will be given the opportunity to work and take responsibilities on challenging projects, gaining exposure to various sectors, both within Greece and the CESA region.
Your key responsibilities
- Delivering high caliber advisory services to public and private entities on national (Greece) and International/EU security and defence matters
- Providing security and defence related expertise to other EY service lines, as well as to funding/financing matters of public and private entities
- Proactively supporting business development activities (proposals, client presentations, professional events)
- Supporting industry and public sector institutions in the implementation of demanding projects in the security and defence sector
- Performing analysis of technologies to evaluate capability and fit against mission requirements
- Demonstrating strong team participation skills, particularly in teams with diverse skills and backgrounds
- Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and consistency in client work, business development and practice development
- Demonstrating strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas
What we look for
Required
- 1 - 3 years of professional experience in the area of defence and security
- Experience in National/Hellenic and International/EU (especially CSDP) & non-EU defence and security environment, strategies, and policies
- Knowledge of the main National/Hellenic and International/EU & non-EU (i.e., US) governmental, industrial and academia/research organisations/stakeholders
- A higher education qualification/diploma from a top tier university
- Excellent written and verbal skills both in Greek and English, ideally including knowledge of contemporary defence and security-related terminology
- Excellent ability to work/cooperate in a team
- Strong conceptual, compositional, analytical, planning and drafting skills
- A track record of delivering successful business outcomes
- Results-oriented mindset, flexibility, innovativeness, and strong motivation
- Ability to work effectively in a quickly changing multinational environment
- Ability to prioritise, organise and coordinate a wide range of tasks/activities
Desirable
- A defense/security-related post-graduate degree
- Professional experience (previously assumed post(s)or traineeships)in a defence and security-related organization, at:
- National/Hellenic level (Ministry of Defense or Armed forces)
- International/EU or Non-EU level
- Professional experience (previously assumed post(s)) in defence and security industry, research organisations, consultancies or think tanks
- Experience/Certification in project management methodologies and processes
