The opportunity
The Greek EY Strategy & Transactions Advisory Services (SaT) practice is the leader in Greece and South-Eastern Europe in professional financial advisory services market.
As the business adapts to an ever-changing business environment the introduction of new technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and use of offshore teams to deliver to our clients, we are creating opportunities for professionals to focus on value-add activities. From early on in a Strategy and Transactions career, you will increasingly be able to focus on building trusted relationships as a strategic advisor to our clients. We are looking for professionals who have the skills to adapt to new ways of working and we are also seeking to build diversity through hiring from a range of backgrounds, focusing on those with the core the mindset of a strategic advisor.
Working in a multi-national environment, the team works on a range of transactions, from local to cross border multinational disposals or acquisitions. Working in this creative environment, you will be given the opportunity to work and take responsibilities on challenging projects, gaining exposure to various sectors, both within Greece and the CESA region.
Your key responsibilities
- Perform industry and company research utilizing online tools and publicly available information
- Participate and assist in preparing for meetings with target management teams
- Assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
- Secure and enhance client relationships at the appropriate level and present a positive impression of the firm
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
- Build strong internal relationships with members of the SaT team and other EY services
- Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
What we look for
Required
- Excellent academic background, including a bachelor’s degree from a top tier university in Accounting / Finance / Banking / Economics, or other related field with a strong quantitative focus
- Excellent written and verbal skills both in Greek and English
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office packages, in particular MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong numerical / analytical ability and a sound grasp of financial accounting
- Strong team participation, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly in teams with diverse skills and backgrounds
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and project management skills
- Willingness to learn, proactivity and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas and work under tight deadlines
- Professionalism and consistency in approach to client work, internal business, and practice development
- Completed military obligations (where applicable)
Desirable
- A masters’ degree in Accounting / Finance / Auditing / Business, or other related field with strong business and quantitative focus
- Working experience in audit and assurance and/or M&A role
- An active CPA/ACCA/ACA/CFA certification (or in a final stage of completion)
- Financial modelling skills
- Knowledge of IFRS and Greek GAAP
- Solid negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to develop long-lasting relationships both internally and externally
