Join us as we commemorate 100 years of EY in Greece this year. Experience great flexibility under our hybrid operating model across our offices in Athens, Patras, Thessaloniki and Crete and contribute to building a better working world.

The opportunity

This is a broad Assurance Advisory opportunity for an Assistant Manager who can contribute across a variety of sectors and types of services, depending on business and client needs. Rather than being confined to a single subservice line, you will operate at the intersection of financial accounting advisory, governance and assurance – across the full CFO agenda – bringing analytical rigor, professional skepticism and a solutions-oriented mindset to a diverse portfolio of engagements.

As an Assurance Advisory professional, it is a rare chance to build breadth and depth at the same time – developing your technical accounting and financial reporting expertise alongside internal audit, corporate governance, forensic and wider assurance skills. As we broaden our Assurance Advisory offering and grow our portfolio of engagements with the largest Greek corporates and entities of the public and broader public sector, you will help shape a fast-expanding practice, work with high-profile clients, and frequently collaborate with other service lines – with leading-class learning and development tailored to your interests and motivations.

Your key responsibilities

  • The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. Depending on the needs, you will move between financial accounting advisory, assurance advisory, internal audit, governance and forensic engagements, working with clients across all industries on some of the most complex assurance projects. That means you need to think outside the box, be creative and solutions oriented, challenge existing practices and be adaptable to change.
  • Technical accounting and financial reporting advice to clients on complex accounting matters, GAAP conversion, IFRS implementation and on-call reporting advice and preparation of financial statements/reports
  • Reporting-process improvement & finance transformation
  • Internal audit engagements – planning, execution and reporting, including risk-based audit plans and process reviews
  • Corporate governance assurance, ICS & enterprise / operational risk management reviews
  • Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) and ISAE assurance engagements (e.g., ISAE 3000, ISAE 3402) for large corporates and public / broader public sector entities
  • Compliance and Integrity assessments, fraud investigations, disputes & regulatory challenges
  • Coaching / mentoring of junior colleagues
  • Use of technology tools and AI solutions to surface risks

To qualify for the role, you should have

  • Relevant working experience in a financial accounting/reporting role, assurance (including AUP / ISAE engagements), external audit, internal audit, or governance/risk
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or any quantitative degree
  • Good understanding of accounting logic with the ability to research IFRS technical issues, as well as internal control frameworks, governance and risk concepts
  • Results-oriented approach with keen attention to high quality and accuracy and a distinct willingness to learn
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in Greek and English

Ideally, you will also have

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or any quantitative degree
  • A professional qualification (or working towards one), such as ACCA, ACA, CFA, SOEL, CIA or CFE
  • Exposure to Agreed-Upon Procedures / ISAE assurance engagements and/or experience working with public and broader public sector entities
  • Familiarity with public procurement and grant / EU-funding compliance frameworks (e.g., Law 4412/2016)

What we look for

We are seeking curious, tech-savvy, and highly motivated professionals who are eager to shape the future of assurance and advisory services. Working in a collaborative and innovative environment, you will help organizations build trust, manage risk, and unlock value through the use of advanced technologies, data analytics, automation, and AI-driven solutions. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across financial accounting advisory, internal audit, corporate governance assurance, AUP and ISAE engagements, public sector projects, and forensic services, while developing the digital, analytical, and consulting capabilities that are shaping the future of the profession.
