The opportunity
EY is hiring an Associate Director to join its APAC Public Policy function and the role will report to the function leader i.e. Partner, Global Public Policy, APAC Leader (currently Julia Tay).
This role will strengthen EY’s APAC Public Policy function by providing strategic capacity and specialized expertise to influence and shape policy developments across critical domains. These include audit and assurance, sustainability, digital transformation, financial services, and geopolitical issues. The role will ensure EY remains a trusted voice in policy dialogues, proactively engaging with regulators, governments, and industry bodies to safeguard the firm’s interests and contribute to the evolution of regulatory frameworks that support sustainable growth and innovation.
Your key responsibilities
This role will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor on policy, legislative, and regulatory developments impacting EY and its clients, with a particular emphasis on AI and emerging digital technologies across APAC jurisdictions. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and analyzing policy trends to aid leadership thinking and decisions.
- Putting forward EY points of view in public consultations or in leadership communications.
- Engaging with stakeholders including senior government officials/policymakers/regulators, industry leaders, standard setters, trade associations and investors etc.
The role is expected to lead or contribute to the management of key stakeholder relationships for advancing EY’s policy objectives:
- External: Officials in national regulatory authorities, government agencies, standard-setting bodies, professional associations, and industry coalitions. These relationships are critical for influencing policy outcomes and positioning EY as a thought leader.
- Internal: Contribute contents to support leadership advisory for Global Executive members including for our Global Chair and CEO. Collaborate with Global/Super Region/Country level leadership teams (Regional Managing Partners, Country Managing Partners, Service Line Leaders, Public Policy, Risk Management, Brand Marketing and Communications etc.) to ensure integrated advocacy and consistent messaging across the firm.
Skills and attributes for success
In view of frequent touchpoints with leadership and senior government officials, this role needs to be of sufficient seniority. The role will also support global initiatives by collaborating with EY’s Global Public Policy network, ensuring alignment and consistency in advocacy efforts.
- Core competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of global and regional policy trends shaping business and regulatory environments, particularly in APAC.
- In-depth expertise in AI and digital technology policy, including ethical considerations, data governance, cybersecurity, and innovation frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of legislative processes and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advanced stakeholder engagement skills, including diplomatic communication and cultural sensitivity, to effectively interact with stakeholders especially senior government officials and industry leaders.
- Additional competencies:
- Familiarity with EY’s organizational structure, service offerings, and strategic priorities, as well as broader market dynamics and competitive landscape.
- Familiarity with the professional services industry including the Big-Four accounting networks.
- Ability to work across different time zones, including taking early morning and late night calls.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary which is open to negotiation pending on skills and experience.
