EY seeks a Power & Utilities professional with experience with Operational Technology (OT) and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to join our EMEIA Digital Grid consulting practice. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, tightly-knit team of experts leading the energy transition, and be on the forefront digitising the network utilities operations to facilitate the better working world. As part of the Digital Grid team, you will work with global companies combining your technical expertise, proven consulting skills and industry knowledge to help solve their most complex problems in the design and implementation of integrated IT/OT system landscapes. 


As a Senior Manager in the team, you will build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers and deliver our advisory services to clients. Drawing on your skills and experience, you will create innovative technology and business insights for clients, adapt EY methods and practices to fit the operational team and cultural needs, support in defining EY services in this space and contribute to industry leading thought leadership. 


As a respected professional, you will communicate effectively with client, EY peers, EY engagement directors, and contribute in high-performing engagement teams while coaching and mentor junior advisory roles to build sustainable competencies and collective wisdom.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The Senior Manager role is responsible for working with our clients to support the planning, design and delivery of digital grid programmes across EMEIA, specifically in OT system integration domain. The successful candidate will be:

 

  • Advising our clients on the delivery of digital grid programmes and projects. Examples of typical client engagements for this role include:

    • Designing the integrated IT/OT solutions for our utility clients

    • Developing the enterprise integration strategy for utility clients, with particular focus on IT/OT integration

    • Developing the data management strategy for utility clients

    • Developing detailed activity, resource and cost plans for implementing integrated IT/OT solutions

    • Supporting the procurement and evaluation of OT products and services (e.g. ADMS, DERMS, middleware platforms, etc.)

    • Producing tender, procurement and legal documentation, supporting bids, valuation of tenders, and managing contracts

    • Designing end-to-end business processes in utility operations;

    • Designing system integration interfaces, including choice of middleware, technologies, standards, patterns to detailed message definition

    • Planning and managing development and delivery of integration interfaces, e.g. GIS, CIS, EAM, MDMS, AMI, CRM, SCADA, market platforms, etc.

    • Designing, planning and managing delivery of utility/OT data engineering services common in these programmes, such as data assessments, collection, migration, validation, etc.

  • Maintaining relationships with existing and future clients. This involves generating and maintaining customer-oriented commercial material and participating in or leading their engagements

  • Collaborating to generate thought leadership articles and new digital grid insights to put into the market

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, both with the client and internal to EY

  • Integrating into a high-performing, geographically dispersed team focused on winning in the market

 

Specific Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

 

  • Significant experience (5+ years) working on OT projects within power and utilities sector

  • Knowledge of operational technology across one or multiple sectors (electricity mandatory, water/gas appreciated) and familiarity with technology solutions in the market

  • Proven experience with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) implementation projects and solutions of leading ADMS vendors

  • Experience working with projects in the power and utilities sector, including with systems and applications such as:

    • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA),

    • Outage management systems (OMS),

    • Distribution management systems (DMS),

    • Distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS),

    • Demand response management systems (DRMS),

    • Market management systems (MMS),

    • Transmission management systems (EMS),

    • Substation automation (SA),

    • Distribution automation (DA),

    • Mobile workforce management (MWFM),

    • Geographic information systems (GIS),

    • Customer information systems (CIS),

    • Meter data management systems (MDMS), 

    • Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) head-ends,

    • Asset management,

    • Data management and analytics,

    • Utility telecommunication networks.

  • Experience and skills in IT integration, such as:

    • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and best practices

    • Knowledge of key IT integration technology concepts (web services, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, etc.)

    • Knowledge of integration middleware products available in the market (enterprise service buses, message queues, API gateways, API management tools, etc.)

    • Familiarity with other applicable technologies used in technology project delivery, such as data queries, analysis and reporting, scripting, test automation, etc.

  • Experience and skills in utility IT/OT integration, such as:

    • Knowledge of data management practices, including master data strategy, utility network planning, design and mapping, asset management, asset commissioning, etc.

    • Experience with IEC 61968/61970 standards (Common Information Model)

    • Familiarity with other applicable standards used in utility OT project delivery, such as interoperability protocols, security standards, etc.

 

General Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

 

  • Experience providing advisory services and possession of core consulting skillsets

  • Familiarity with applicable project management and execution methodologies 

  • Experience working with onshore and offshore software development teams

  • Proficiency in English language, with the ability to communicate both written and verbally at professional level (additional language skills would be appreciated)

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work under tight timelines for multiple project deliveries

  • Willingness and ability to travel from time to time domestically and internationally to meet client needs

 

Education:

 

  • BS/BA degree is essential (preferably, electrical engineering, computer science or similar technical degree) from an accredited four-year college or university, or

  • equivalent experience
