Join our fast growing Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) team as a Senior Consultant in the Netherlands and enjoy the opportunity of working on EY’s largest multi-country client engagements. Our Indirect Tax Compliance professionals support large multinational clients with their indirect tax obligations in EMEIA and globally. This starts with the indirect tax compliance and goes hand in hand with VAT advisory and technology support, the delivery of which we coordinate through close collaboration with EY specialist teams. We apply a client centric approach and our team members work on a client engagement basis – not on a per country or region basis – which maximizes business and sector specific knowledge.
The office
Our office in Amsterdam is located on the Zuidas: a bustling area where many companies are based. In our Cross Towers, as many as 1000 people are welcomed daily. Haven't had breakfast yet? Responsibilities – How can you make a lasting impact in a rapidly changing world?
• Client and Colleague Communication: Serve as the main point of contact, liaising with international clients and colleagues on European VAT and compliance matters.
• VAT Compliance Oversight: Monitor, review, and approve indirect tax data, reports, and returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance VAT compliance processes and keep up with legislative and business changes affecting systems.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and support junior team members, both onshore and offshore.
• Collaboration and Development: Work closely with VAT controllers and senior managers, and engage in training to support personal and professional growth.
Job requirements – Where do you start if you want to change the world?
• A Bachelor and/or Masters degree in economics, tax law, accounting or equivalent – a specialism or supplementary degree in taxation is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in EMEIA VAT compliance, either in industry or with other service providers.
• Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.
• Working knowledge of Dutch in addition to a strong working knowledge of English
• Basic understanding of IT-systems and VAT/GST reporting solutions as well as the changing legislative landscape and the impact on VAT compliance.
• Proactive and motivated, capable of independently tackling challenges and managing projects while also excelling in team environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills paired with effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Organized and adaptable, with a desire to learn, develop, and fluency in both English and Dutch.

• Time off: you are entitled to 29 vacation days per year when full-time employed.
• Sabbatical: the option to take unpaid leave after consultation.
• Birth leave: EY will pay 100% of the birth leave, in case of an additional birth leave EY will pay 70% of the salary.
• Training and education: EY believes it's important for everyone to always have the opportunity to further develop yourself. We therefore offer you the opportunity to take part in various soft & hard skills training, external courses and/or sign up for an additional education. For example, obtaining an MBA to broaden your skills in Leadership, Business and Tech.

• Bicycle arrangement: finance the purchase cost of your new bicycle from your gross monthly salary (purchase cost amount divided over 12 months) or from your non-statutory holiday entitlement.
• Pension scheme: you will build up a pension capital directly after your start at EY. Each month the available premium amount is transferred for you in an investment account at our pension provider. You will also have the option to build up additional pension capital on a voluntary basis.
