Your new job | About your responsibilities
If you enjoy digging into legislative texts, monitoring global trends, and translating abstract policy developments into practical implications and potential solutions for businesses then this role is for you.
As a Consultant in the EY European Tax Policy Team, you will work on the cutting edge of tax policy and international tax developments. Our team systematically tracks and analyzes developments from the EU, OECD, the UN and other international organizations, examining how evolving legal frameworks and geopolitical shifts shape the global tax landscape. We then translate these developments into insights that guide EY professionals and inform our clients’ strategies.
EY’s European Tax Policy Team is a small team within a larger global group in EY and values diversity, consisting of members from various countries around the world. The team comprises four permanent members and is supplemented annually by colleagues from the European EY network on temporary assignments. This structure facilitates the dissemination of our team's knowledge and expertise throughout the broader EY network while also enabling us to gain insights from local teams. Our primary focus is on serving large international clients by providing timely tax policy updates and addressing ad hoc inquiries related to European and international corporate income tax. Additionally, we connect our clients with policymakers to help shaping discussions on European and international tax policy and effectively communicate business considerations to these stakeholders. We also collaborate closely with other teams within EY, offering comprehensive overviews of developments in tax across both European and international contexts.
Your key responsibilities
- Identify and analyze legislative developments and tax policy trends from the EU and other international organizations, including the OECD and the UN, by monitoring their official websites, media sources, and relevant knowledge platforms.
- Conduct research on legal, economic, and geopolitical issues affecting taxation and business practices.
- Translate complex policy developments into clear client updates, EY (tax) alerts, briefings, and internal communications.
- Engage with policymakers, and other external stakeholders, and collaborate with EY’s internal network to communicate key developments.
- Assist with the development of materials and strategies for go-to-market initiatives.
- Support the team with coordination and the execution of administrative tasks.
- Act as a forward-thinker for clients by spotting emerging trends and risks.
Your skills and experience | Your unique contribution
- Degree in Law, Economics, European Studies, or another relevant discipline.
- Strong interest in and basic understanding of European law, European and international taxation and policy-making.
- Good understanding of either European law or international taxation, preferably supported by a Master’s or equivalent educational experience.
- Ability to analyze complex information and effectively communicate it to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to draft high-quality presentations, content for publication and other materials.
- Proven experience of effective networking and ability to manage stakeholders
- Organized, proactive, and detail oriented.
Benefits | What we offer
- Competitive salary reflecting your role and experience, plus pension contributions. Additional benefits include holiday pay and an annual performance-related bonus;
- Laptop and phone for professional and personal use, plus a monthly internet allowance;
- Flexible travel options via a mobility budget (lease car, public transport, or app-managed travel);
- Hybrid working to support a healthy work-life balance, with a fully equipped home office;
- Option to work up to 20 days per year abroad;
- Flexibility to swap up to three national holidays for alternative days;
- Extensive professional development and training opportunities;
- Wellbeing support through OpenUp, including confidential access to psychologists and lifestyle experts for you and your family;
- Strong focus on teamwork and internal networks, providing social and collaborative opportunities.
All of this takes place in an environment where our core values of integrity, inclusivity and respect are central. We believe it is important that you can be yourself and develop into the best version of yourself. Curious about all our benefits? Click here.
