The opportunity  

In this rapidly growing area, you will coach leaders and teams on a variety of agile related topics including; product management, design thinking, lean, engineering culture, and DevOps.  
You will be influencing the overall mission and objectives of teams by focusing on customer values, coaching teams to embrace the right mindset in ways of working (cadence, ceremonies, tools). By anticipating and identifying impediments (systematic, behavioral, etc.) and working with the right owners to resolve them, you can monitor the team’s outcomes and dynamics while assisting them in improving team performance and agile maturity.  

Your key responsibilities 

Your strong Agile experience will propagate learning across various teams and help other members problem solve and enhance capabilities with respect to Agile Maturity. Your experience will also help with continuous development and improvement of methods and its day-to-day incorporation with the teams. Your strong soft skills will help build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.  


Skills and attributes for success  

  • Models Scrum Master responsibilities for coaching new teams 

  • Shares successes and struggles with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to facilitate learning 

  • Coaches team members who are serving as Scrum Masters 

  • Helps to implement and improve Agile development approach 

  • Proactively identifies and raises project risks 

  • Removes impediments to success 

  • Remains current on Agile development practices 

  • Provides hands-on Agile coaching to teams on all aspects of Scrum practices 

  • Coaches teams and stakeholders in improving their Agile thinking and Scrum processes. Evaluates and mentors existing Agile feature teams, and deliver training classes for product owners, new teams, and executive leadership to promote and improve agility 

  • Captures feedback and continuously improves Agile guidance, training materials, and content 


To qualify for the role, you must have 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 4-8 years of working experience in Agile methodologies with 2+ years of working experience as an Agile coach in fast moving tech environments 

  • A deep understanding of Agile frameworks and Lean principles, from mindset and values to practices and tools 

  • In-depth experience facilitating agile ceremonies and mentoring teams/individuals on agile values, design thinking, customer value, product management, etc. 

  • An extensive track record of success in working with development teams, managers and senior leaders as they transitioned to improved ways of working 

  • Strong experience on driving agile transformations from design to implementation 

  • Working knowledge and experience with several Agile methodologies SCRUM, XP, Kanban and SAFe 

  • Working knowledge of best practices in user-centered design like user research, hypothesis-driven development, prototyping, usability testing 

  • Strong working knowledge of technical engineering best practices including test driven development, continuous integration, DevOps  

  • Cognizance of the differences between coaching, mentoring, facilitating and teaching, and when each approach is applicable 

  • An all hands-on-deck mentality to your work - depending on the task at hand you may be coach, facilitator, mentor, trainer or implementer 


Ideally, you’ll also have 

  • An accomplished background in professional coaching - partnering with people to encourage self-discovery, eliciting their own solutions and strategies, and holding them responsible and accountable for them 

  • Strong experience in facilitation, guiding groups through processes that help them to come to solutions and make decisions 

  • Teaching skills - designing and delivering training that is effective, engaging and focused
