The opportunity - Based in the FCT, Abuja
As a Business Consultant for Finance Transformation (Processes, Operations, and Technology), you will work with leading organizations to drive Future of Finance agenda across the entire lifecycle of the project. You will work directly with clients who are embarking on their first steps to finance transformation journey, to clients who already operating innovative financial solutions and are looking for next disruptive solutions to accelerate and deliver value through the world-class next-generation finance.
Your key responsibilities:
- Finance Transformation Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive finance transformation strategy that aligns with the company’s broader business goals. Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and technology enhancements to improve financial performance. - Process Improvement:
Lead efforts to streamline and enhance financial processes, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounts payable/receivable. Work with cross-functional teams to implement best practices that increase operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. - Technology & System Implementation:
Oversee the selection and implementation of new financial technologies and systems, such as ERP platforms, financial planning software, and automation tools. Ensure smooth integration with existing systems and alignment with business needs. - Project Management:
Lead finance transformation projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet stakeholder expectations. Develop project plans, manage resources, and track progress against milestones. - Change Management:
Collaborate with finance and business teams to drive change across the organisation. Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that employees are equipped to embrace new processes and systems. Communicate progress and results to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. - Data & Performance Analytics:
Implement data analytics tools and frameworks to improve financial reporting and decision-making. Use data-driven insights to measure the success of transformation initiatives and drive continuous improvement. - Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with senior management, finance, IT, and other departments to ensure that transformation initiatives are aligned with overall business strategy. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive engagement and adoption of new processes. - Risk Management & Compliance:
Ensure that transformation projects comply with financial regulations, internal controls, and risk management frameworks. Identify potential risks related to the transformation and develop mitigation strategies.
Other Duties
- Strategize and Plan: Establish and collaborate with CFO to strategize and plan a customer-centric, digitally enabled finance vision, strategy, and operating model, aligning with enterprise goals, qualifying the case for change, and designing the transformation roadmap
- Design and Implement: Design and implement finance operating model and To-be processes for finance and accounting functions to improve operation’s efficiencies with the proper controls. Align finance technology and data with enterprise architecture, talent capabilities, and performance metrics. Lead change impact assessment and enterprise-wide change management
- Transition and Stabilize: Manage transition activities to adopt the new operating model/ processes implementation including planning training and knowledge transfer activities
- Optimize: Identify and prioritize opportunities to optimize finance operations through emerging technologies, supporting clients in implementation and monitoring outcomes
- Project Management: Lead projects by managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, project economics, delivery interdependencies, and issue resolution, while handling change requests
- Business Development: Lead and manage business development activities, including preparing proposals to support the client. Support organization of external events to build EY’s eminence in the market
Skills and Attributes for Success

To Qualify for the Role you must have
- Bachelor or Master Degree with a minimum of 7 years’ working experience, preferably with a year in a business consulting role in a leading consultancy firm. Candidates with more experience will be considered at a more senior level.
- Qualified Accountant (ICAN/ACCA/CIMA). other Finance and Accounting qualifications are an advantage
- Strong business acumen within the financial sector, with experience in the following discipline :
- Enterprise Performance Management with integrated, driver based Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Scenario management.
- Have hands-on experience in both design and implementation with the ability to articulate best practices and drive workshops.
- Proven capabilities in delivering business transformation projects and programs, Finance Transformation projects and / or Financial Operating Model would be an advantage.
- Ability to establish personal credibility quickly and deliver high quality deliverables.
- Demonstrated key subject matter expert with the ability to develop thought leadership and deliver solutions for clients.
