The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced AI & Analytics Manager to lead the transformation of utility Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) data into actionable insights that enable smarter grid operations and strategic planning.
In this role, you will shape and drive the AI and analytics agenda across utility operations, leveraging large-scale metering data to enhance load forecasting, optimize asset performance, and support grid-edge decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed advanced analytics into core operational and planning processes, ensuring data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Define and own the AI and analytics roadmap supporting utility planning and operations, including demand growth, grid performance, and evolving AMI use cases.
· Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics solutions to support load forecasting, asset performance, and proactive network decision-making.
· Apply analytics across AMI and customer systems to enhance forecasting accuracy, service quality, and customer insights, particularly during major system or business transformations.
· Establish and oversee data governance frameworks and data quality controls to ensure AMI data is reliable, trusted, and fit for operational and analytical use.
· Drive the adoption of advanced analytics and AI capabilities across the organization, embedding best practices and scalable solutions.
· Build internal capability by mentoring and upskilling teams on analytics tools, methodologies, and ways of working to enable long-term self-sufficiency.
Skills and Attributes for Success
· Strong expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven solution delivery.
· Deep understanding of utility operations, particularly in areas such as load forecasting, network performance, and grid-edge analytics.
· Hands-on experience with modern data and analytics platforms, including cloud and distributed data environments.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R.
· Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and large-scale data processing.
· Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to lead cross-functional teams and translate complex data insights into business value.
Qualifications
· 10+ years of experience in analytics and data-driven solution delivery, including at least 5 years within utility or network-intensive environments.
· Proven track record in applying advanced analytics and machine learning to use cases such as load forecasting, scenario analysis, and network operations.
· Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
